“I know, I know. He was a bully when I was with him and he’s still a bully. He’s used to getting his way. He doesn’t care about me, Bette. He cares only that he wins. I’ve alerted everyone that I can about him. That’s all I can do. Beyond that I cannot live my life looking over my shoulder. I refuse to give him that power. Besides, he’s got to get back to his practice. Those good old boy paying clients of his don’t take kindly to having their cases or their phone calls snubbed. This is the first time in a while we’ve gotten to be together for dinner out. Let’s not talk about him. I promise to be careful. Okay? No one is going to take me away from you.”

Several hundred miles away two other women with stars in their eyes and hearts full of love were sharing dinner also.
“I’ve got to call Tina, Sam.”
“How do you think she’s going to take this?”
“Sam, Tina is in a relationship with a woman.”
“What!!! Oh, my, my…oh, wow…Tina? …you did just say….”
Ann couldn’t help but giggle. “Do you realize, Samantha Jacoby, that’s the most monosyllabic words I’ve ever heard you say? Yes, Tina, is head over heels in love with a woman. I’m afraid my initial reaction to her was horrible because…well, I guess I was jealous – jealous that she had the guts to love no matter what and the hell with what anyone else thought – including me. I nearly lost her and any respect she had for me. Thank goodness I came to my senses. She and I had always been so close and now I think we’re even closer…well, this next phone call will certainly be a test for our relationship.”
“It will be fine, Ann….maybe a bit of a surprise to her, but under the circumstances I believe she’ll certainly understand your feelings. She’s her own woman and a bright one at that. Tina will immediately understand why you had the initial reaction you did. She also grew up in a different time than you and I.”
Ann watched Sam as she spoke. She couldn’t help but wonder how different her life would have been if she had stood up for love, packed up her children and herself and followed her heart. It wouldn’t have been easy, by any means, but she most certainly would have been happier for the mere fact of being true to herself….

Hey Rene! Your writing is exquisite and the story is soooo good! I love the many layers and how the “Fates” have brought Bette and Tina together; and now they have given Sam and Ann a second chance. It sounds like they are going to do it right this time around. Love that Ann is going to “heal” the wounds she left on Tina. Once Ann hears about Tina’s problems with John she and Sam will want to help…and hopefully they will be able to. I can’t wait to see what kind of “getaway” trip The Fates have planned for B&T once the trial is over. I love your writing Rene!!! More please!!

After all of the drama of the court case and John’s reappearance it was sweet to have some time for Bette and Tina just to be together enjoying the benefits of their relationship. The flip to Tina’s mum’s world was interesting and will certainly open up several new story threads. But where is the Judge? Has he been gotten to? Wjen will John make his next move? Is Simon everything we hope or a cunning plant? Only your talent and skills will bring this all together. Thank you for the heat and passion, expertly portrayed, between our love birds.
