Dana – that was your grandma on the phone Jake

Jake – you mean mums mum

Dana – yeah

Jake – I don’t think I’ve ever met her, mums shown me pictures.  My other grandma died last year, she was nice, but she would always ruffle my hair and pinch my cheeks, will my new grandma do that too.

Dana – I doubt it Jake  – she says laughing – Lenore is unique

Jake – unique, what does that mean?

Dana – one of a kind, there is only one Lenore, anyway you will meet her soon.  Come on lets go in and you can beat me at x-box again.

Jake – cool.

With that they made there way indoors and just as Dana predicted, she was getting well and truly beaten by a 5 year old.

Some time after Will came home, he took Jake off to the bathroom to give him a bath and get him ready for bed. Dana took the opportunity to go and look in on Alice.  She quietly entered the bedroom, she tiptoed over to the bed.  Alice looked so peaceful and beautiful as she slept.  Dana leant over and placed a small kiss on Alices forehead.  Alice stirred and slowly woke up smiling

Dana – oh shit I’m sorry Al I didn’t mean to wake you

Alice – don’t worry, it was a nice way to be woken up

Alice shuffled over and patted the bed, indicating to Dana to sit down.

Alice – so you have fun this afternoon, sorry I slept for so long

Dana – yes I did, I got my ass beat again on that x-box thing, I’m gonna have to buy one and practice.

Alice – laughs – I cant believe you are getting competitive with a 5 year old Dane

Dana – I cant help it – laughing – so you feel better now?

Alice – yes thank you, I was more tired than I thought.

Dana – Oh Al, your mom called

Alice finally

Dana – she’s jumping on the next available flight she can get, she’ll call me from the airport when she lands and I’ll go and pick her up

Alice – that’s good of you, thanks. well I guess that’s my peace and quiet gone.  I better start preparing myself for the I haven’t seen you in 5 years lecture

Both women laugh

Dana – well, Wills home now, I guess I better make a move

Alice – you have plans for tonight?

Dana – no nothing planned

Alice – stay and have dinner with us Dana, please.  Besides Will is a really great cook

Dana – are you sure, I don’t want to be in the way

Alice – don’t be silly, I want you to stay, that’s if you want to

Dana – I’d like that Al very much

Alice – well that’s settled then, what’s Jake up to?

Dana – Will is running him a bath, and getting him into his pj’s, he’s already picked out the superman ones

Alice – oh yep they are his favorites

Alice – Dana?

Dana – yeah

Alice – looks directly into Danas eyes – would you lie with me for a while, hold me?

Dana – of course, you don’t have to ask

Alice – I do, you might not want too, I mean well you know.

Dana – of course I want to Al, I cant think if anything else I’d rather be doing.

Dana lies down and scoots over next to Alice.  She places her arm around Alices waist and hugs her gently. Alices head resting on Danas chest, and Alices arm around Danas waist. Dana lovingly places a kiss on the top of Alices head.

Dana – you ok Al

Alice – I am now
