    Author Notes:

    We find out Bette’s secret and a the Family gains another.

    “Shannon I left your softball stuff next to Jesss in the laundry room. I hope thats okay. If its not Ill go get.” Tina said. Shannon smiled.

    “No its okay.” Shannon said.

    “Is this okay, the contractor said that your room should be done by next Wednesday.” Bette said.

    “Okay. Shannon said. One of the boys started crying.

    “Ill get him.” Tina said. She left the room. Bette walked further into the room.

    “Do you need help unpacking?” she asked.

    “No thanks I think I can handle it.” Shannon said.

    “Okay then I will be downstairs if you need me.” Bette said.

    “Okay.” Shannon said. Jess was still sitting on the bed.

    “Jess dont you have some homework to do?” Bette said.

    “No.” Jess said. She was lying of coarse. Bette looked at her sternly.

    “Excuse me.” She said.

    “Okay.” Jess complained. She got off the bed and walked over to the desk. Bette walked out of the door after watching Jess get started.

    “I hate homework.” Jess complained.

    “Me too.” Shannon said as she started to unpack. Jess smiled. Jess went to work on her homework. She had more than usual because she hadnt been able to concentrate on anything all day. It took her two hours to do it all. When she was finished she turned in her chair and watched Shannon finish unpacking. She was trying to decide whether she should ask what she wanted or not.

    “Why werent you in school or at practice to day?” Jess asked.

    “I took the day off to pack and go to the hospital to visit with my mom.” Shannon said.

    “Oh.” Jess said. She gathered up her homework to take it to Bette to check. “Want some ice cream?” Jess asked as she was about to walk out of the door. Shannon looked at her and smiled.

    “Sure.” Shannon said. They walked down the stairs. Bette and Tina were sitting together on the couch. Bette was trying to work but she too was unable to concentrate.

    “Here. I am done. Can we have some ice cream?” Jess asked handing her homework to Bette. Bette took it and tried to hand it to Tina.

    “I dont think so tonight is your night.” Tina said. Bette hated to check Jesss homework especially the math.

    “I didnt have math tonight.” Jess said. “Can we?”

    “Sure.” Tina said.

    1. Okay so I was wrong. I figured Bette’s secret was that she got suspended for some type of protest. Hopefully Shannon won’t have a really rough transition.

    6. This chapter was very touching. I hope that Shannon will one day accept her family. Both Jess and Shannon already know each other so hopefully they can become true sisters.

    9. Great update, love the story. Looks as though there will be adjustments for everyone. Losing her mother will be very hard for Shannon and everyone will feel the tension. I only hope she lets them help her through the transition and the death of her mother. There is a whole lot of love in that house and hopefully Shannon will let it surround her. She is young and change can be difficult for teenagers. Thanks for the post. Post again soon please.

    10. I hope that Shannon will want Bette and Tina to adopt her later on. That family is sure growning, Just hope that Jess and Shannon gets alone. thanks
