Just The Girl 2.0 – Chapter Fifteen (based loosely on HYD: Returns)
The guard’s belly laugh cut through the sound of a jet taking off. “Believe me,” She started after wiping a happy tear from her eye. “Those kinds of crazies only come around once in a lifetime.”
“Crazies?” Tina repeated incredulously, her face showing mock hurt and offense.
“Endearingly crazy.” Rosie, the security guard, dished a quick save. “Let me tell you Miss Kennard, I am deeply honored to have been the one to tackle you to the ground that day, cause due to that run-in, I have something interesting to tell my little boy when he starts badgering me for cool on-the-job stories when he’s old enough to ask.” She smiled brightly at a blushing Tina. “So from a grateful mother, thank you for making my boring self look like a rock star in the eyes of my Tommy, way before he starts to realize just how uncool his mom is.”
“I’m glad to be of service then.” Tina mumbled sheepishly, pulling up the handle on the roll-on luggage that the flight attendant just handed to her. “It’s just me this time.” She answered the unspoken question, seeing as how Rosie was looking expectantly at the private jet’s opened door – as if anticipating another person to step out. She was supposed to ride Helena’s jet on the way here, so imagine her surprise when this one greeted her at the New Haven airport. Instead of throwing a temper tantrum and punching holes in Bette’s jet, she decided to show her displeasure someway else – by finishing off Bette’s precious stock of Toblerone, an infamous Porter guilty pleasure.
“Oh, I see.” Rosie nodded, hiding her surprise. It was weird to see the young blonde without Bette Porter with her; especially since she was riding one of the brand new Porter-owned jets. That explains the absence of the usual Rolls Royce limousine that used to wait for them when they landed, she mused. “This way please..” She motioned towards the parked golf cart nearby, leading the way for Tina.
“Thanks..” Tina smiled gratefully, loading her light bag at the back of the small vehicle. When that was done, she sat beside Rosie at the front and held on to a handlebar. It didn’t take long before they started maneuvering their way through the tarmac, zooming past other parked jets and airport personnel. Despite the fact that the wind was whipping her hair and making some strands stick out wildly, Tina couldn’t help the fond smile that graced her lips when she looked at her surroundings. Burbank airport, no matter how cold and unfeeling the huge hangars appear to be, always had a special place in her heart.

My eyes bulge out of their sockets…WOW…54 pages. Wow, I can only bow in admiration. Thank you. On the story, both are having a hellion on the break time, man I am having a hellion on the break time and not even part of the story. I guess we havnet seen the last of the wannabe musician back. What happens next? ;)
thanks alch…another brilliant update and i actually took a bathroom break just like you said lol. i’m just afraid that since this is a long update it might take you longer to write the next? hope not, looking forward to it.
You made me so happy on a Monday morning! That was a hard feat for anybody else but you’vr done it! :) Onto the next chapter… Thanks!
Close to 15 and 3/4 LOL. That was a beauty of a car. I love toblerone! Now I must move on to the next post. Thanks alch.
wow..that was epic! But well worth the read…thank you for that ray of sunlight by way of Bette’s memory…and of course for the multitude of “..” this was a good one..
I did a little happy dance when I saw your post! I have to say the chapters were a little short…LMAO! Such a gut wrenching time for B & T. Beautifully written!
Great chapter!Now I think I’ll start loving Mondays:)Thank you for a fabulous update.:D
Thank you Alchy for such a wonderful and long read! You did a great job of weaving the scenes together. I love the Tina-Ken teasing, Bette – Sonja “recovery/addiction” moment, 3-step recovery for Tina, Sam/Bette’s conversation and the Tibette car. So very, very, very clever!!!! Ok…I sense that “Keith Arden” is somehow connected to a certain “Kate Arden.” Hm…looks like a black cloud on the Tibette reunion horizon. But…I cling to the hope that Ken’s almost secret sharing of perhaps an engagement is in the future. You know that small ray of hope is what is bringing your readers back!!!!! Get some rest Alchy…get your creative juices a break but come back real soon…we need our Alchy fix!
Wow that was great! Excuse me while I read the next part. I will say your bette is soooooo sweet
Your story always satisfies, Alchemy. You get some of everything in here, and it’s all fab. I loved this chapter. Here’s hoping that Tina can stick to #3 on her list, and I hope Bette can do the same. Great, great update, Alchemy. Thank you! :)
Brilliant chapter Alchemy – you always take such care with detail, emotion, characterization – amazing ;-) As someone said abt the previous chapter – one thing Bette still needs to learn is how to take Tina off that pedestal and treat her like an equal. Relationships mean sharing – both good things and bad – IMO that’s the biggest repair they need, the only truly important one. I loved seeing Tina & Ken again – what a great father daughter dynamic they have. I see Tina is still eating her pain, haha! The flashback was great and so was the bittersweet ending.
That was awesome, love seeing Ken and Tina together again.
