Bette sticks her tongue out. "That’s for calling me full of shit."
"Not you. Your answer was lame. You should have said you’re afraid of love, instead of that crap." Tina mimic Bette and stuck her tongue out at our hero.
"I’m not afraid of love." Bette smiled to cement the lie.
"Whatever you say."
Jenny walked in the living room rubbing her eyes. " Tina. I had a horrible dream, last night. I was with Leno and you brought Bette Porter home!" She removed her hands away from her eyes to see Tina and Bette on the couch playing video game. They turned to look at her. "Oh." Jenny gasped.
"Hi Jenny" Bette smiled and waved at the young writer. "Horrible dream, really?"
"Don’t tease." Tina playfully nudged Bette on the stomach. "Wanna join us, Jenny? We’re playing your favorite, Street Fighters!"
"Uh. No. I think I’m just gonna go back to bed." Jenny starts to retract her steps. "Hey Bette. Nice to see you again. Next time. you me and Tina do lunch" She smiled nervously.
"Um okay." Bette smiled at Jenny. "Sweet dream this time."
Jenny was gone.
Bette turned to Tina. "She doesn’t like me, huh?"
"Not you. She doesn’t like your reputation." Tina answered, but never taking her eyes off the tv screen.
"Fair enough. What about you?"
"I don’t like it either, but I’m not one to judge." Tina jumped off the couch. "Yes! I got you Porter!"
Bette laughed. "I’m glad, but I was asking if you like me or not?"
"I do." Tina turned to look at Bette.
Bette grinned. "Yeah. I know. I’m just too hot." She joked.
"Don’t get all high and mighty, now. I like you, but doesn’t mean I want to sleep with you."
"I won’t bet on that, if I were you."
Tina smiled. "I’ll take that bet."
They spent the rest of the morning playing video games, eating breakfast, and enjoying each others’ company. Both unsure of where this relationship was going, but was perfectly fine having it left in the dark. Tina just ended her two year relationship, and was not in a rush to jump into another one, anytime soon, especially not with Bette Porter. And our hero is still stuck on love-ain’t-for-me mind set, but she sure doesn’t mind spending time with this peculiar blonde.

Tina definitely found a way to capture Bette’s attention. Jenny’s comment about her nightmare was hysterical. I love Tina’s standoffish nature with Bette – it so makes her try that much harder. I’m looking forward to more flirtation and the next approach by Bette. Has Tina’s trust grown given that Bette respected her boundaries to only sleep? Hope you post again soon.

I so knew that Tina was going to only SLEEP with Bette, but it was the perfect thing to start their friendship. I can’t wait to watch them fall in love as friends and see how they handle it. Great writing!
I love the banter between Bette and Tina. I knew Tina was talking about sleeping with Bette literally. Can’t wait to see how the flirtation progresses. PPS
just read all 3 chapters… i had a feeling tina was just going to SLEEP… and believe me i am glad she did that… i think this is what bette needs… to first get to know someone… and not just jump into bed with them… i have a feeling she will let that wall be broken down… loving this story… PPS
