If You Never Say Anything to Me ch.17

When I got back from North Carolina, I immersed myself in work to take my mind off Bette and occupy my time. I started to read a lesbian novel that I had from God only knows where and really enjoyed it. On a Saturday morning, I got up and went running before deciding to venture to the gay bookstore that I had found while searching online. I called Shane hoping that she would go with me but she didn’t answer when I called. It was early and she had gone out the night before so the chances were better than not that she had not even made it out of bed yet.

I decided to go by myself and after a few missed turns, I found myself at Out and About Books. I walked in and was greeted by a man behind the cash register. He asked me if he could help but I told him that I was just going to look around. I was in shock. I had not ever been in a place like this and I was like a kid in a candy store. There were books, magazine, greeting cards, jewelry, candles….anything that I could have ever thought of seemed to be here. I took my time looking and was enjoying myself when I felt someone stand beside me. I looked up and there stood an absolutely beautiful brunette. She looked at me and smiled. I returned the smile but kept browsing. Every time I looked up, I seemed to catch her eye. It didn’t make me uncomfortable.

I finally settled on about 6 books. All were lesbian romances and I was excited at the thought of having something to do to fill my evenings. I approached the cash register. The man, who introduced himself as Bruce, took one of the books and suggested that I let him exchange it for another one because everyone who bought it seemed to be disappointed with it. I was appreciative and waited as he went over and picked up another one. As he rang up my purchases we made small talk and he told me if I was interested that the coffee shop that was two doors down had recently opened and was gay owned. I thanked him and assured him that I would be returning soon. As I walked out, I felt I wasn’t alone. I was right. The brunette had come out too. She approached me.

    1. excellent! I love the stilted convo, love that dana is now part of the gang, love that they want to try sooner rather than later… Cannot wait for the first date!

    2. Two months did seem a long time, but in one sense it was about right. I am glad that they ran into each other if only for Dana and Alice to meet. Now at least Tina is rethinking the August 23rd time line.

    3. Good thing Bette and Tina ran into each other and had such a good time talking. I for one think a month is more than enough time to wait before getting together for a date ir just getting to know each other. PPS

    4. Yes!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this chapter…in one chapter you covered a whole month and I don’t think they will make it to the 23rd. You have written this story to perfection just like Windows of Opportunity. You are an awesome writer NAG. Thanks for the post

    5. Glad the waiting period is almost over and both of them still have that intense feeling for one another. Thank you for including a healthy, beautiful Dana to this lovely tale. At least in fan-fic land, Dana is alive and well. I appreciate your frequent posts, NAG. *Thank you!* :>

    6. Sorry NAG, I slipped behind but am all caught up now. So we’re not waiting the post Dr./pacient Dr. recommended waiting period. So GLAD. Ok if your not working on WoW than we should see another postd like really soon right, pretty please. Thank you, Md

    7. Well the NAG “nap deprivation plan” worked. That took a little bit of work to get the road crew and the tree crew coordinated. LMAO. Wooo Hooo! We don’t have to wait ’til the 23rd. Thanks for the post NAG.

    8. I love how you intergrated Dana into the story. It will be interesting to read their coming out adventures. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for Bette and Tina have a proper date. Great update.

    9. Oh my goodness I just had the day/evening from hell and to find this story, then read it was such a welcome treat!!! Well if it were in a work situation, I’d probably be freaking out if the target date got pushed up, but in this situation…oh who am I kidding, I’m freaking out now too – but in a good way…this is SO awesome, can’t wait for that phone call ;)

    10. at first when i read your intro.. i was pissed… oh no she had tina meet another woman… but so glad it was dana… and now maybe alice and dana will hook up… it sure looks that way… and i am also glad tina said what she said… now bette can call her when tina sleeps off her hangover she will be having in the morning… love this story… PPS
