If You Never Say Anything to Me ch.14

“When do you see her again?”

    “Wednesday.”

“From now until then, you occupy your time. You paint, read, hang out here or with Alice. You just do. On Wednesday, you go in and let her lead things. Don’t rush her Bette or she will run off. Let me tell you something. You’ve never been in love before and it’s a learning experience. The first thing you have to learn is to let her figure out what she needs to both professionally and personally.”

    “Love?”

“Get that look off your face. Yes, I said love. It may not be there yet but that’s the path that you are on. The best thing you can do is start seriously working on what you have to with the new therapist. You have way too much time to think and need to get back to work.”

“You’re right, I do. I am going to put some trust there that Tina would only send me to someone decent and am going to work on things.”

“Bette, I’m so proud of you.”

    “For what?”

“Not too long ago you would have found yourself liking Tina and tried to escape with one nameless woman after another. That’s the easy way out. Now, you’re facing this and if you let things happen, the reward may be more than you could have ever hoped for.”

I got up and walked over to her and pulled her into a hug. As much as I sometimes forget to show my appreciation of all that she is and all that she does for me, I feel it and know.

“Thanks Kit. I can always count on you to help me see things.”

“You know I’m always here for you. I hope this works out with you and Tina. I would like to meet the woman who has my baby sister so flustered.”

“I hope you do meet her. I’m going to take off. I kind of left Al and Shane when I saw you. How ‘bout dinner Wednesday after my appointment?”

“Sounds good. Call me when you get out and we can make plans but I’m sure I’ll see you here before then. I love you.”

“Love you too Kit.” I walked out and Shane and Alice were right where I had left them. They were now discussing Wonder Woman and what was more believable. Alice argued that the magic lasso of truth was much more realistic than Shane’s belief of her golden belt and bracelets that were used to deflect things such as bullets. They both asked me to weigh in on the argument and I found myself agreeing with Shane. The golden belt and bracelets were much more practical in my opinion. The conversation shifted to the practicality of Wonder Woman’s outfit. I mean really…how did her boobs not fall out? We spent the next hours dissecting the best of the best of pop culture and it felt great to have a diversion.

    1. Good to know that baby G will be okay. 3 days old, they break at any age, at 3 days they are just little sleeping, eating and pooping machines. Now for the story, I know the drama is coming just hope I can live thru it. Back to read the story.

    2. glad that bette has kit to talk to. nice to see the gang coming together. gabby is bad news for alice.:)PPS glad to hear little g is doing well and arrived safely…

    3. YOU KNOW I LOVE THIS STORY!!! I LOOOOOOOVE IT! IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER! (Better turn the caps lock off or you’ll hear me in FL) YOU ROCK, nagster! Absolutely ROCK! (If only true life was like this…well…it prolly is for some…but not for me…boo hoo) Gawd! Just love love love love love this story! :) And I’m so glad G is in capable and caring hands! He’s lucky to have had you! Bless him!

    4. aaawwwwwwwwwwwwww, this is so intriguing…i want more…NOW!!!!! SORRY Baby G left us. i was so fond of the littlee…another one 3 days old? wow, they leave the nest young these days!!! whoa.

    5. Loved, loved, loved it. Poor Bette, she needs to slow down as Kit said she needs to pace herself. Tina will come around in due time, it’s just so frustrating to wait. BTW, did anyone see JB & LH on the Glaad Awards tonight on BRAVO, they were presenters, and did a little banter on THE SHOW. They were lovely, Laurel’s hair looked darker for some reason. PPS

    6. Great chapter – I loved Kit’s advice to Bette much better than anything poor foxy brown’s been given to say since season 1. Thank god for fan fic authors who know how to give characters some depth. You are great.

    7. Wonderful to know that Little G is doing well…hmmm, 3 days old, that is a bit new, but so precious….Loved Kit’s advice, and B’s comment about making a s’wich & wondering what kind of jelly T likes….like pattifloatn, I suspect their friends will figure it out pretty soon & though it doesn’t require her Yoda like sensibilities on this one, I think Shane may be the first to get a clue if she was observant when she went in to grab a beer ;) Poor B’s gentle heart learning, but not knowing who T is interested in..Now I’m trying to figure out what drama you have in store for us, and well I don’t want to imagine the worst, so I’m trying not to think about it…just hoping you post soon & thanks for this one!!!

    8. Is it Wednesday yet? I’m happy to hear that little G had a safe trip. Must have been hard to let him go… Thanks for bringing up the Spawn of Satan, they’ve been out of school a couple of weeks and are already running crazy in the streets. Thank God my ‘lil spawn of Satan is in summer school! Later NAG PPS.

    9. Can’t wait to find out what happens on wednesday.Thank God for Alice, she is the right person to find out information without even knowing she is doing it.looking forward to the next chapter PPS

    10. Just found this story. I’m really enjoying it. You’re a gifted writer. I’m excited to check out your other story too. I have one minor request: can you please add Dana into the group? I miss her presence in fanfiction land :)

    11. NAG, so glad the Aunt called to tell you the G’ster made the flight ok, I know you were a little worried about that. Now that cookout was perfect, just what I’d like. I know you having evil writing thoughts so please don’t let them spill to much in this story, somehow I can see em comming. Thank you, Md

    12. Bette’s dying to know Tina’s favorite flowers and what movies make her cry. Yep, she’s got it bad. I LOL on their Wonder Woman discussion. I think the invisible airplane is Wonder Woman’s coolest/funniest weapon because you can’t see it but it’s there tucked somewhere in a hangar or parked on a runway. Thanks for this update, NAG! :>

    13. This story is just so touching – every chapter just warms the heart. I join the choir in saying “How long until Wednesday?” I am so grateful that Tina texted Bette to let her know she received the message. I hope Bette makes the connection that Tina has been interested in her for several months. So happy to hear that little G made it safe and sound!

    14. NAG, you have an incredible way of telling a story that just pulls the reader in and makes them feel part of it. So much of your story talks about simple interaction with characters, but you make evrything sound so interesting. I’m hooked for life on anything you write, I swear! So, Bette’s learning patience and Tina is struggling with her feelings…this is such a good story.

    15. In the last chapter Tina got some good advice from her mother and a college professor, now Bette got very good advice from her sister Kit. Both are lucky to have people in their lives that they can talk to. How long will it take before Alice puts it together or for that matter Shane?
