I Will Follow You Into The Dark – Chapter Eleven
“I’m so sorry for you, babe. But you know, that whole Bette Porter isn’t worth you. She’s a coward and a chicken and she doesn’t respect you or your feelings.”
“I know, but she can be so sweet and adorable. She’s so vulnerable and I want to protect her, and she lets me, and it feels so good.”
“Tina… you deserve much better than that. I’m not gonna say ‘told you so’, I’ll keep that for later. Right now, you need to get to know some girls, have some fun, see what’s out there for you. Just for the record, you are gay?”
“I don’t know, Shane, and I don’t want to meet other girls. I only want Bette.”
Shane sighed. “T, she ain’t worth you. You can do much better.”
“I don’t want to.”
“I understand.”
I knew Shane didn’t understand a bit, but it was sweet of her. She stood up and said:
“Let’s go for a walk, get some fresh air.”
“That would be great.”
Sometimes Shane could read my mind. I stood up myself. We left, Shane closed the door and than threw her arm around me to pull me closer.
“You can do much better. You’re my friend.”
“I know. You’re great, Shane, you know that?”
“So I’ve heard. In slightly different circumstances, though.”
“No details, please.” I didn’t know where we were heading, but I trusted Shane.
When we got back, I called my dad and asked if I could stay over at Dana’s. We would work on the homework the following day. I begged him and said that Dana’s parents were okay with it. It took me some more than that, but I finally convinced him.
I stayed the night at Shanes. The following day, we went for the same walk. Her arm over my shoulder made me feel comfortable. We were just friends, but good friends. I was so thankful that Shane was there for me.
We took the path that joggers usually take. Shane suggested it, and I knew why: it gave her an opportunity to check out some girls.

Bette Porter narrative
I cried all day and night. In the morning, I felt dry. I decided to take a run, get some fresh air. I took the usual path.

Oh dayum…this story just keeps getting better and better…loving the drama
”Billy. It’s over.” – – I looked at Tina, expecting her to be happy and to kiss me…. – She looked at me and said: “I’m glad you did that. You had to do it for yourself. Now get your head clear and we’ll see what happens.”… – “What?” ‘ – – That was a great little exchange there, Genner!
i said it before and I will say it again. This is my favorite Genner story.
Tina wants Bette to get herself straight before she commit her heart and soul to her. Which she hads already, but Bette would keep on doing her this way forever. Pay back can be hell
Saw 3 posts were up so I’m just commenting on this one beacuse I was too excited to stop reading! I’m glad Tina made Bette do that but these two really need to get on the same page and stop denying their feelings for one another. Can’t wait to see what happens next. PPS
tina is right bette needed to break it off with billy for herself and now she needs to get her head clear!! i feel bad for bette she is so confused and has no one to talk to except tina and she is messing that up as well awesome update :)PPS
Such a wonderful update! I am so relieved that they reconnected – well in a manner of speaking. At least they cleared the air a bit. Tina is tough – lovin’ that. I wonder if Shane is a little too over protective of Tina (as in she has a secret plan of her own). Hmmm…great job!
Maybe Bette deserved that, maybe she even needed it. But its gotta be so damn hard from where she is standing.
This story just gets better with every chapter! These two are so frustrating, but in such a realistic and adorable way. Thanks for the frequent posts.
bette so deserved the flick! way 2 go Tina.
