Tina sat down on the deck chair next to Bette.
“Can I get you something? Something to drink perhaps?” Bette asked.
“No thanks… I’m good…”
They sat in uncomfortable silence for a while.
“I’m sorry I didn’t call you back, Bette… I needed a little time to think…” Tina said. She turned her face to look at Bette.
“You regret getting closer to me… and now you want to cool things for a while…” Bette said in an even voice.
“Don’t speak for me, Bette… I don’t regret a single moment I’ve spent with you over the passed month… not a thing.”
“You don’t?” Bette said, finally looking at Tina.
“No, I don’t… I am, however, scared to death of how good it feels to have you in my life again. I’m scared that we’d be moving backwards instead of forwards, Bette. I cannot go through losing you again… and you’re not even mine to have…” Tina said, her voice hoarse from emotion.
Bette rose from her chair and put her hands on her hips, looking down at Tina in desperation.
“I AM yours to have… I KNOW my actions haven’t always shown that… but it is so, Tina. I am barely functioning when I’m not with you… I AM YOURS, whether you want me or not,” she yelled.
Tina got up as well. “Doesn’t that scare you? Over the passed year I’ve been alone, with Helena, and with Henry… and still, deep inside me, I knew I belong with you…despite you fucking the carpenter, despite you not being home when I needed you to be, despite the fact that I experienced the greatest loss when I was with you – DESPITE all that, I STILL belong with you. How fucked up is that?” Tina screamed.
“It’s pretty fucked up…” Bette said, trying to hide the ecstatic happiness she felt right at that moment.
“Don’t laugh at me….” Tina said, biting her lip not to laugh.
And then they both exploded in laughter.
Bette turned her face towards the sky and laughed like she hadn’t done in years. Tina held her stomach trying to get some kind of control over the ache she was experiencing, laughing so hard.
Bette was still giggling when she stepped close to Tina. Her arms slipped around Tina’s slim waist, pulling her as close as she could get. Tina rested her forehead against Bette shoulder, still chuckling. Bette could feel Tina’s sweet laughter reverberate into her body. She felt her own tears start to fall. She didn’t know whether it was tears of laughter, relief, or of sorrow. It didn’t matter, she was in Tina’s arms and here she could cry for whatever reason. Tina’s arms found their place around Bette’s neck and she leant back to look at her. Tina saw the tears flowing from Bette’s eyes, and she recognized the smile that always made her heart skip a beat. And then she leant in and kissed Bette for the first time since she left the house at daybreak after the night of Provocations.

whoa…wow…brilliant…great to wake up to your story…the dialogue…the re-building of the relationship…maybe B can invite T to go so they don’t have to delay ‘the talk’??? yeah, I’m just impatient for them to get it on!!! Love your writing…thanks for this and no pressure (lol) but PPS
Unless they make a vacation of it its only 4days and Bette will be working like a maniac anyway. Besides, this could be valuable time for Bette to make some decisions and for them to flirt like crazy as absence makes the heart grow fonder!

What a pleasant surprise to see that you had posted another chapter. Now that’s what I call dedication to your readers—having your g/f home and still finding time to give us another chapter. This is the way it should be—the two of them talking and laughing and teasing each other. If you want something bad enough the work it will take to achieve it will be well worth it. I’m surprised Bette didn’t just come right out and ask Tina to go to London with her. Maybe they need a few days apart so Bette can figure out what she wants to do regarding her career. I’m sure the time is going to drag for them both, the anticipation will be excruciating for them. Nice update, anker. Cheers!

This was a wonderful chapter. I got scared when Tina didn’t return those calls. I am glad they sat down and actually talked. Keep them talking and loving each other. Ohhhh be still my Tibette heart.
