It was late in the afternoon. They had been working all day. The apartment was empty and the house filled up with what seemed to be an obscene amount of boxes.
“You have too much shit….” Alice exclaimed, leaning against a tower of boxes.
“I agree…” Tina concurred a little out of breath from carrying a chair. She slumped down in the chair.
“Where’s Porter?” Alice asked, “that woman seems to slip out whenever we get to the heavy lifting…”
“She got a call…. she’s out on the porch…” Tina said. She got up and went to fetch beers for the girls. Everyone gathered around, sweaty from the exercise.
“Hey you guys… would you mind if I slip out for an hour? I’ll pick up food on the way back…” Bette said as she came up to the exhausted crew.
“Where are you going?” Tina asked with a frown.
“I just have to run an errand… I won’t be long…” Bette said and winked at Tina.
“Okay… but bring home heaps of food… I’m famished…” Tina smiled and reached out her hand to bring Bette closer.
Bette smiled at Tina’s gesture and leant down placing a couple of soft kisses on Tina’s waiting lips.
Bette got in her car and drove towards Melrose. The call Bette received was from Janice. Their rings were finished, both pairs. Even though Bette had hoped the rings would be finished before Christmas, it seemed fitting that the day they moved back into the house, would also be the day they would once again exchange rings.
It worried Bette that Tina seemed to struggle with their decision to move back into the house. When Bette had woken up that morning, she instantly knew something was up. Tina didn’t usually leave the bed before Bette on a day off. And if she did, it was to make breakfast, leaving Bette to wake up to the smell of her cooking, the faint sound of the radio playing, and Tina’s familiar humming.
That morning everything had been quiet. Tina’s side of the bed was cold so she had to have been up for a while. Bette felt an instant sense of anxiety. She quickly shed the covers and went to find the missing Tina. A gentle breeze came through the open door, which made the drapes wave slightly. Bette tiptoed to the balcony door and looked outside. Tina was sitting with her back to Bette and her feet up on the railing. It was a cold morning, but Tina didn’t seem to notice. Bette could tell from Tina’s posture that she was in deep thought. Bette feared hearing Tina voice her doubt. She desperately needed Tina to want this as much as she did. It was at times like these Bette really felt Tina’s power over her. Tina held Bette’s heart and it was in her power to decide if it would be kept safe or crushed completely.

Happy Happy Joy Joy! I’ll have to go tracking you down more often if we’re going to be treated to chapters as fantastic as this! B & T have addressed their fears, and neither of them are unrealistically expecting completely smooth sailing. And they’ve gotten the rings now… they know what’s at stake, and what they want, and I don’t think they’ll risk losing each other in such a spectacularly painful way again. Even if this chapter didn’t come to you as quickly as a cheetah on an oily chute, you did it perfectly, anker. Thank you for the post!
Oh BTW….thanks for not blaming me for being late, I had expected that LOL. And of course I rememeber our deal…how could I forget, not a chance :o))

This flowed nicely. Poor Bette having to get down on her knees to beg Alice to leave so that she could give the ring to Tina was a hot. I can understand the overwhelming fear for both Bette and Tina. Is it going to work this time and can they really live without their soulmate if it does not? I believe that the answer is for them to always try and communicate and don’t give up even when times are difficult.
Glad to see you have posted another chapter. I missed your story. The exchanging of the rings was so romantic!

I can’t even imagine what the writers on this site struggle with to keep a story flowing smoothly. I’m grateful that you toughed it out and were ablte to give us this update. It’s great to have B & T sharing their fears with each other and talking through them. As much as they want to push forward to a new beginning, that nagging thought is always in the back of their mind not to mess up this new chance at happiness. Hey anker, Girl you are so bad! I loved this latest chapter. You are true the characters and the interactions between them. There was just so much love between Bette and Tina balanced with their uncertainity of what the best course of action is. You neven know that the decision you have made is the right one until after the event. Hindsight is marvelous but this is a time to take that leap of faith. Good to see the gals talking about their fears instead of bottling them up. Can’t wait to see where it all leads. A happy ever after. I hope. Many thanks for the personal shout out.
