“Are you sure we’re doing the right thing, Bette…?” Tina whispered after a little while.
“… No….” Bette whispered.
Tina looked at Bette and saw the worry in her eyes. “Neither am I….” she said.
“Are you having second thoughts, Tina?” Bette asked wringing her hands.
Tina placed her cold hands over Bette’s to still the nervous motions. “I will try my very best to make you happy, Bette… do you know that?”
Bette nodded.
“Do you, baby? Please say it out loud for me…”
“I do…. And I don’t doubt that you will make me happy… How could I? All my happy days were spent with you…. I just hope I can do the same for you…”
“So we’ll have to take this leap of faith together, baby… cause I guess we wont know if this is the right thing we’re doing….”
“Do you doubt that I can make you happy… tomorrow… a year from now…?” Bette asked, needing to be reassured.
Tina looked at the woman by her side, all disheveled and wide-eyed, sitting there in her pajamas on the edge of the chair.
“No…. I don’t… You are my love, Bette… there’s no other way around it… every way I look at this… every way leads back to you….” Tina smiled for real this time, “still, I can’t say I’m not scared to death.”
“Me too….” Bette said with a little laugh.
They both leant back in their chairs and looked up at the sky. “Maybe that’s what’s going to make the difference this time…. that we’re scared, I mean…” Bette said.
“How do you figure…?”
“Just that we know what we’re losing this time… what we’ll be giving up… if we’re not careful…”
“We weren’t very smart last time….” Tina thought out loud.
“No, we weren’t…. “ Bette laughed softly at Tina’s sentiment.
“Are we smarter this time around?”
“I’d like to think so….” Bette said, “but T… we can’t think ourselves out of this one… there are no guarantees… we risk getting hurt…”
“but we also take the chance on happiness…”
“… yes…”
“I’m glad you’re here….” Tina smiled at Bette.
“Where? In your life?” Bette said trying to keep up with Tina’s train of thought.
“Well, yes of course… in my life… but I was talking about right now… here… you make my mind stop spinning out of control…” Tina smiled.
“I do?”
“You do, baby… no more frowning… no more second thought… just you and me and a u-haul….”
“…and Alice, Dana, Shane, Carmen and Kit….” Bette laughed and got up.
“… sure… them too…”
“Tonight, T…. tonight we’ll be home. That’s a really good thing… I can’t think of a better way to end a day…”
“Me neither… me neither, babe…. Now how about if I make us some breakfast?”
“No more sleep?”
“Nope… the day has begun…”
“Then breakfast it is….”

Happy Happy Joy Joy! I’ll have to go tracking you down more often if we’re going to be treated to chapters as fantastic as this! B & T have addressed their fears, and neither of them are unrealistically expecting completely smooth sailing. And they’ve gotten the rings now… they know what’s at stake, and what they want, and I don’t think they’ll risk losing each other in such a spectacularly painful way again. Even if this chapter didn’t come to you as quickly as a cheetah on an oily chute, you did it perfectly, anker. Thank you for the post!
Oh BTW….thanks for not blaming me for being late, I had expected that LOL. And of course I rememeber our deal…how could I forget, not a chance :o))

This flowed nicely. Poor Bette having to get down on her knees to beg Alice to leave so that she could give the ring to Tina was a hot. I can understand the overwhelming fear for both Bette and Tina. Is it going to work this time and can they really live without their soulmate if it does not? I believe that the answer is for them to always try and communicate and don’t give up even when times are difficult.
Glad to see you have posted another chapter. I missed your story. The exchanging of the rings was so romantic!

Hey anker, Girl you are so bad! I loved this latest chapter. You are true the characters and the interactions between them. There was just so much love between Bette and Tina balanced with their uncertainity of what the best course of action is. You neven know that the decision you have made is the right one until after the event. Hindsight is marvelous but this is a time to take that leap of faith.
