Chapter VI – Empire State of Mind – Three letters
They both groaned when they heard Liz knock on the door, interrupting them.
”Come in!” Tina called out, reluctantly, and then kissed Bette, whispering, ”of course, baby. We’ll do it that way, if Liz agrees …”
”You girls need a few more minutes? Or an hour?” Liz asked teasingly, eyeing their flushed cheeks, and shook her head. Bette and Tina — still the hottest couple she knew. If only her other clients were like them.
”Just makin’ plans,” Bette answered with a light laugh. ”We’d like to ask you something later.”
”Hmmm… okay,” Liz commented. ”I’ll do an examination first, but I just wanted to say that, based on our records, it looks like you’re good to go Tina.”
Bette and Tina heaved a sigh of relief.
”But …” Liz paused, dramatically.
”But, what?” Bette and Tina asked, looking at her with questioning eyes.
”Umm… I think we may need a fresh deposit. The one Marcus left years ago is not of a sufficient level to do this, or that I’m comfortable with, at least.”
Bette and Tina looked at each other.
”You think that you can find another donor?”
”Several, maybe,” they said simultaneously.
”I’m sure!” Liz answered, shaking her head, having spotted many potential donors in several of the parties she’d attended in Bette and Tina’s stylish upper east side duplex.
”While we’re here, let me have a look around, Tina,” she said, as she pulled a chair and then sat, as Tina scooted further down, closer to the edge of the examination table.
Bette leaned over, and kissed the top of Tina’s head, whispering, ”I’ll give you some privacy, get some water outside.”
Tina looked up at her with a smile. You can stay, baby, she mouthed.
Bette shook her head slightly, returned Tina’s smile, and then walked quickly out the door, pulling it shut behind her.
As she walked further down the hall, heading towards the water cooler, she overheard a heated argument between two women in the room adjoining the water cooler. The door to the room was opening as Bette walked past the room to get to the water cooler positioned on the wall several feet from the door. One of the women was standing next to it, her hand grasping the door handle, as if she was about to step out of the room.

Ahhhh, just ask Marcus then the kids are really siblings! I like this story very much only wish you posted more often, I have no right to talk I have been pondering a new story for quite some time so you take all the time you need to keep up the quality. My story will be centered around the horse world which is the world I lived in before I had the stroke. I spent many years showing and breeding Appaloosa’s first and then paint horses I miss being able to ride and having horses the most. I have been thinking about doing this story for a long time. I will start it soon. In the meantime I will read whatever you write.,
Allons-y! Jackiee1. Hope you do return to the “horse world.” They’re magnificent animals. About what you’re writing: If it helps, just start with a barebones outline, so that you have a “straw man” you can play with. It’s also something that doesn’t need to be perfect. At times, you could be tempted to be your own worst critic. Don’t be. (Hmmm… I posted 2 chapters this weekend: not good enough? just kidding). Hang in there.
Thank you for the update.PPS. And Jacky please come back soon.
Love this story and the addition of Diane and Jules. Glad to see they are working on a second child and Bette can experience Tina during pregnancy. They will need to be careful who they choose as donor. Hope this upcoming trip is safe and uneventful. Of course that wouldn’t be fun then, would it? Thanks so much for your time in writing this wonderful story and sharing with us.
I also love this story! Why not just ask Marcus to deposit again. That’s the right thing to do if he’s still in their lives. I’m not feeling Tom for some reason. Please let Bette find out the truth in Luxembourg but not to much drama. PPS
So happy you posted again, thanks. Love the story but have a feeling a lot of drama is ahead.
Two posts in one week and both wonderful additions to this exceptional creativity. makes me wish it was a three day holiday weekend so that I could have all the time to read each word, digest and contemplate the creative imagery you have put forth. Thank you, keep up the wonderful work. The imagery between Bette creating life with Tina alone will set all screens on fire.
Thanks for the double post. Bette and Tina don’t know Tom well or his history. Maybe Tina can surprise Bette by searching for Marcus and getting him to be their donor again. They should not mess with perfection, Angie is a gorgeous child.
I love this story, and in my opinion marcus is the best choice.
Lovely story! And like the rest, get Marcus back in the picture, please. Thanks for sharing your great talent with us!
Thank you for both updates.
I agree with the others, they need to find Marcus and ask for another deposit.
Hi Skydancer
I think with Toms sperm and Bettes eggs with Tina as the birth mother would make the perfect match.
I admire your creativity with each chapter, keep up the good work.
