Catching up with Dana and Tina – Chapter 33
Dana: It’s like looking in a mirror.
Alice: Well, bald is beautiful.
Dana: I think so. Thanks for coming with me.
Alice: Sure. I mean I’m excited to meet Dr. Love. I want her to sign my book and stuff.
Dana: I like doing stuff with you. You’re like my favorite person to do stuff with.
Alice: I thought Lara was your favorite person to do stuff with?
Dana: Yeah… she is but I don’t know it’s different with you.
Alice: Well we’re best friends that’s why.
Dana: Yeah. Yeah.
Alice: I mean it took me a long time to get here but you’re my best friend you know. I wasn’t going to let you go.
Dana: Yeah I know. I’m glad. I’m glad we’re back together… as friends… that’s good.

Alice came out of her reverie as Dana started to wake up. She got up out of her chair and walked closer to where Dana was reclining.
“Hey Al … what are you doing here? Where’s Lara?”
“Hey … she’ll be back in a few minutes. I stopped by to see how you were doing. She asked me to stay while she got some fresh air and something to eat. How are you feeling?”
“Not so good. I slept pretty soundly but I’m still exhausted.”
“That’s to be expected right?”
“Yeah … I just need to take it easy for a few days then I’ll be good as new.”
“Well maybe next week we can do lunch or take in a movie or something once you’re feeling better.”
“Yeah I’d like that. So how are you doing?”
“I’m doing OK. I miss Bette and Angie and it’s like we never see Tina anymore. She’s either working or flying off to New York every weekend.”
“Yeah I miss them too but we’ll see them next month for Sunday family dinner and to celebrate Angie’s first birthday.”
“Yeah I can’t believe she’s a year old already. I still can’t believe Bette would up and take a job in New York just like that without saying anything, and then to take Angie with her … that really sucks.”
“Al she didn’t just up and take the job without saying anything. She told us all about it on the Sunday after they got back from the retreat.”

I really love Dana, i hope she put some sense in Alice, that they don’t need to interfere with Bette’s and Tina’s relationship, they did it in the past and Alice need to respect Bette’s boundaries.
I hope that Tina really thinks hard about her friendship with Helena, she doesn’t seems to be convinced that Helena means big trouble for, mostly her career, but also for her relationship with Bette.
Thank you Bat, for the three updates!
Three chapters back I was feeling incomplete. I thought Tina’s confessions were too surface and accepted too easy by Bette. The way the conversation transpired was not “real” given the prsonalities of these women. It felt like two school friends were chatting. I dont think they are friends yet. They are on the road to friendship which is great. I know Bette’s goal was to show Tina she can be understanding, but that conversation was just wrong. Compare it to Bette’s confession which was full of emotion from both of them, this dialogue was like a school girl interview. I struggled with that dialogue. So… karma has entered to storyline. BAT, I now like the approach you have taken. Bette didnt have to express a negative verdict in what Tina confessed, but I think some emotion should have been displayed. Now Bette can say, without saying, “I told you so”. Karma can communicate with Tina that she played a major part in the ways her life is shaping. Sometimes when you are the victim, it is through your own doing.
Great update. It’s hard to try and understand why Tina still doesn’t quite get it regarding her relationship with Helena and how damaging it is to her own integrity and reputation.
She’s talked about making a change in her life but it’s like making that decision to let go of life in LA is taken a strangle hold on her. If I had that choice, I’d take Bette and Angive and NYC in nano second! ????
Tina is so dumb when it comes to Helena. Enjoyed it, thanks
Good thing Lara is still next to Dana, to be
their great support this recovery.
The entire constellation.
