Bitter Endings, Sweet Beginnings: Part Five
Completely unaware that two pairs of piercing blue eyes were focused on
them the entire length of their dance. Both able to see what Alice
couldn’t and what Helena was trying so hard to fight against. The start
of a powerful attraction forming.
—
They left the club around two in the morning and sometime during their
taxi ride to Jenny’s house and towards Helena’s, they decided that
Alice should simply sleep over. That’s why they were giggling
obnoxiously and leaning into each other for support as they made their
way up the very winding staircase to the upper levels of her house.
“You should never get really drunk at your place, Helena,” instructed
Alice, pausing halfway up the winding staircase to squint solemnly at
her friend. “This thing would make you totally sick and you’ll end up
barfing. I mean, what if you had a party and you got plastered and you
tried to go upstairs and puked over this railing onto one of your
guests heads?”
Scrunching up her nose in an expression of distaste with this imaginary
scenario, Helena drawled, “That is a truly vile thought, darling. Thank
you ever so for putting it into my brain.”
“You’re welcome,” chirped Alice, giggling and leading the way up the
staircase and into the living room. She flopped onto the couch with a
loud groan and kicked off her shoes. Watching with lidded eyes as
Helena sat far more gracefully next to her and slid her pumps off and
placed them on the floor. Smiling fondly at this, Alice sunk down on
the couch to lie on her back and poked Helena in the side with the toe
to her right foot. “You’re a neat freak, aren’t you?”
Turning to look at Alice and smiling on seeing her stocking covered
foot, Helena lifted the blonde’s legs to put them in her lap. Leaning
back into the couch and tracing her index finger up then down Alice’s
left foot, she said, “Playing was never allowed in my mother’s
presence. She has always been an avid collector of arts and antiquities
and as such, being a child and doing… child like things was frowned
upon.” Smiling sadly and looking to Alice, she said, “I’ve never
managed to grow out of the habits she hammered into me. Though I do my
best to not instill them in my children. I want them to always feel
comfortable in their environment and to never worry or doubt themselves
in their own home.” Helena paused then said quietly, “A person should
always wish to return to their home. It should never be the opposite.”

I’m going to kick some serious a$$ if they don’t stop working you so hard. Just tell me who, and you’ve got it. Tell them you have too many fans, checking daily for your wonderful writing to worry about such things like work or school or paying bills. Have you ever heard of Social Programs, they could help pay your bills, so you can devote all your time to us. LOL So glad to see you back, missed your writing. I’ve said it before; let me be the president of the Dreiser Fan club.
