Bette changes Tessa and then she held her close… Tina was just watching… she loved how gentle Bette was with the baby… and how loving… she knew she was going to be a good mommy… and Bette talking baby talk… no one would believe her…
Bette: Well my little Boo… are you ready for some more of mommies milky… you know you are so special… you get to feast on mommy about 7 times a day… but you have to be careful and not hurt mommy, ok… but when I want some milk with cookies… she tells me NO… can you believe her… she doesn’t know how to share… we are going to have to teach her that… I know that’s going to be some trick to pull off… but we can do it…
Tina: Are you two plotting over there…
Bette: (Shh… it’s our little secret… ok)… (In Baby talk)…mama I think I ready for more…
Tina: You sound just like your mommy… I know you suck are hard as she does at times also…
Bette: I sorry mama… I kiss the booboo…
Tina: You are just too cute… come here… Tina continues to feed the baby…
Bette: How was she then, any problems…
Tina: No… she was nice and gentle
Bette: Well we had a talk… and she is going to be careful…
Tina: Hold us babe…
As Bette again slips behind Tina…
Tina: So babe… a new nick name… Boo
Bette: I called her that… WOW… my mom used to cal me that… it just came out…
Tina: Bette… can you tell me about your mom…
Bette: There’s not much to tell… she left when I was about 10… Perfect timing… and she left me with Melvin… I think she had no choice… he wouldn’t let her take me… just like he wouldn’t let Kit’s mom take her… and no visits either… he had to be the cause of that too… I remember I cried myself to sleep so many times… and he was always away on trips… just as well because when he was home I had no life… all I could do was study and then read… he had the only TV in his room…
Tina: You were never allowed to watch TV…
Bette: With Melvin it was better to just go to my room then to argue with him… but when he was away… Julie would let me watch TV… but I had to promise never to tell Melvin… like I would…
Tina: What happened to Julie…
Bette: I guess she went to the next Job… you know some other kid to watch… don’t forget I grew up in Chicago… she would help me pick out colleges… she said go far away from here… Melvin wanted me to go to Yale… and again I never argued with him and besides he paid for it…
Tina: Well Yale is no slouch college…
Bette: I know… I did have a great time there… but then again any place not near him was great…
Tina: It’s funny… I have met Melvin 3 times… the first time she didn’t even look at me… the second time he thought I was he best thing since God made apples … and then the third time when he found out we were married… again he wanted nothing to do with me… he is one strange man… but he did do something fantastic…
Bette: When…
Tina: He helped make you… without him… I wouldn’t be laying in this bed… or you either… and this little bundle of joy too… OH God she is just too cute…

Hey Amanda, Great to have you back and posting more of your unique and brilliant view of Bette and Tina and now Tessa. Loved the real life drama added to this tale. No parent is perfect and it is only by experience do you learn the best way to care for your child. Tina’s panic was perfectly played out here.
