    Author Notes:

    Tessa is 4 weeks old and Tina has her doc’s appointment…

     

    Tina:  Ok … well first of all we know she is not being stuck with a pin on her diaper… No Pins…

     

    Bette:  That’s good… maybe her PJ’s are itchy…

     

    Tina:  Ok good… lets see… maybe we missed one of those plastic tabs…

     

    Tina lays her on their bed and she screams even louder… knelling down in front of her…

     

    Bette:  Tina take her clothes off… check for anything… a rash… maybe she was bit…

     

    Tina:  By what…

     

    Bette:  I don’t know…

     

    Tina takes her PJ’s off and then pulls her feet out… one foot was stuck… Tina looks closer and now the tears are coming even harder…

     

    Tina:  OMG… OMG… baby I am so sorry… as she carefully removes her little toe from the elastic band from around the ankle part of the PJ’s…

     

    Tessa was so exhausted she fell asleep… Tina redressed her carefully and Bette put her in her bassinette…

     

    Tina crawled up on the bed and was crying her eyes out… Bette held her close…

     

    Bette:  Baby… it was an accident… you didn’t mean to do it…

     

    Tina:  I was more interested in getting laid… I should of watched what I was doing… I’m a terrible mother… I caused her pain…

     

    Bette:  Hey… look at me… you are not a terrible mother… you are one of the best mommies…

     

    Tina:  I’m sorry Bette…

     

    Bette:  Baby… there is nothing to be sorry about… just think her future brothers and sisters will thank her… because it will never happen to them…

     

    Tina:  (Smiling)… You’re right… that will never happen again…

     

    Bette:  Now you get under the covers… before you catch a cold and I’ll be back in 10 minutes…

     

    Tina:  I think I just need to sleep tonight babe…

     

    Bette:  I think we both just need to sleep tonight…

    PS… What happened to Tessa really happened to my son… I had to go to work and when I came home my father was watching the 2 boys for me… he said Greg was crying but not really crying… for the past 20 minutes… when he left I went to check on him… and sure enough he was whimpering… I picked him up and he cried… I put him on my bed and in my mind I was thinking… ok no diaper pins… maybe something did bite him… or a rash… as I am taking his PJ’s off… it was his little toe caught… and the look on his face… he just fell asleep… he was that exhausted…

     

    This was the same son who made me a grandma this year and he and his wife know to check the baby’s toes when putting on her PJ’s…

    7. Hey Amanda, Great to have you back and posting more of your unique and brilliant view of Bette and Tina and now Tessa. Loved the real life drama added to this tale. No parent is perfect and it is only by experience do you learn the best way to care for your child. Tina’s panic was perfectly played out here.
