Before I fall in love (5/10) – a Bette and Helena story

    9:00 am

Looking at Bette sleeping like a log, Helena realized that this could be one long wait. She sighed, and set up her Yoga mat for the day’s workout.

    11:00am

“Bette? Are you awake yet?” Helena prodded Bette, who hardly stirred. She was still soundly asleep, undisturbed by all of Helena’s attempts to rouse her. Bette can really sleep, Helena thought with a sigh. She stood up and walked all around the hotel room. The rest of her friends had already set off for the beach hours ago and she was feeling bored. Sighing again, Helena settled down on the couch and began to read. She was getting drowsy herself.

Her salvation came an hour later, when an exuberant voice greeted her from the bed. “Good Mooorning!”

“It’s already afternoon”, Helena mumbled to herself as she looked at her watch, feeling mildly annoyed at the 4 hours spent unconstructively. She opened her mouth in a scathing statement she had been contemplating for the entire morning.

“What do we have for today?” Bette interrupted; looking at her companion. She looked energized; her face glowing under the light of the afternoon sun and her hair tousled as she beamed at Helena with her smoldering doe eyes and a megawatt smile that could melt the hearts of millions. She was the most utterly beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, Helena thought breathlessly as she attempted to compose a rational statement in reply. Instantly, she had forgotten about Bette’s late rising.

“Shall we go to the State Art museum after lunch?” she suggested, pointing to a list of recommended activities on the brochure.

Bette examined the brochure and said excitedly, “Let’s go to the Contemporary Museum first? It’s a little bit traditional, but they have great artists like Gertrud and Otto Natzler, Beatrice Wood and Lucie Rie.”

“That’s fine by me, and maybe we can go to Hawaii Theatre in the evening for Ho’okena?” Helena noted, “This award winning team has garnered many Na Hoku Hanohano Awards — Hawai’i’s version of the Grammy Awards.” She continued, reading from the brochure Bette was holding.

The sun was high in the blue sky and the grass under Bette’s feet was as green as in any summer movie. Time flew past, and before they realized it, evening had already arrived. Bette and Helena enjoyed the panoramic view of the manicured and majestic grounds as they walked around in the historical Hawaii Theatre, basking in the cool summer breeze. They had spent a meaningful day with each other, and the both of them realized that they had many interests in common, from political ideology to the amount of passion they were willing to put in everything they did.

    1. I love a story that puts Bette & Helena together. So many people are so stuff on B&T forever that they cant invision anything else. WTG!!!………..Max, why is he there? Damn.

    2. Excellent chapter, missed this story, glad your back, id have to agree with vvitch, dont stress about the ratings i think there are people on this site who will give a low rating because they don’t like the bette and helena pairing rather than rate you on how good your story is, very sad, so again dont stress about the ratings, go by the comments you get, which as you can see thus far have been very positive. so do please continue, eagerly awaiting your next installment. thank you.
