Chapter 165
Bette pulls up outside the club. She had called Dana a few minutes before so she was outside waiting for their arrival.
“Hey, Dana. Thanks for doing this.” Bette says.
“Not a problem. I’d love to spend time with these little angels. Haven’t seen them that much.” Dana replies.
“Yeah, I know, I’m sorry about that. Hopefully that will change.” Bette says and smiles.
“Well, I have been out travelling a lot lately too though, so.” Dana says and smiles.
“Yeah.” Bette says and take out the double stroller and put the boys in. Dana takes control of that while Bette brings her papers and the diaper bag. They walk inside and into the diner. “Dana, I have to tell you something, could we perhaps go outside? Where there’s not a lot of people?” Bette asks.
“Sure.” Dana says and looks curiously at Bette. They walk through the restaurant and out on the patio, looking out on the tennis courts. They sit down on the side, no one else around.
“So what’s up?” Dana asks.
“Well. I’m gonna fire Maxine today.” Bette starts.
“Why?” Dana asks.
“Well, let me start at the beginning.” Bette starts. “I can’t believe I never told you this but, I was ashamed I guess and I Well, I have a daughter.” Bette says and looks at Dana, who’s jaw drops.
“You what?” Dana is able to say after a few seconds.
“I have a daughter, she’s 17 now, going on 18 soon.” Bette replies.
“Oh my God.” Dana says.
“Yeah. I gave her up for adoption.” Bette says and wipe away the single tear.
“Oh Bette.” Dana says and reach out for her hand. “I’m sorry.” She adds.
“Yeah, me too. I’ve been trying to find her for years, but gave up two years ago So much happened then, Tina and the baby, the accident, the cancer. But then a couple of weeks ago, we had that home visit from the social worker, and to my surprise and shock, it was Pete. You remember I told you about him. (Dana nods) I hadn’t seen him since he suddenly left, no note and not a word. He was just gone one day.” Bette says.
“He was the father?” Dana asks.

GEEZZZ…that woman is mean..really is..how could a mother do that to her own child and worse do that with her grandchild???? i hope Julia forgive Bette for what she did..i know 18 years is a long time but they have to think in the future and all they great times they have to enjoy each other…both suffered boecause of lies..no more lies Bette need to talk to her soon..great chapter..as always thanks and psot soon :o)

What is wrong with Maxine? do she loves Bette? she did a lot of awful thing, i hope Bette will be available to explain to Julia all
I would like to know maxine’s motiation for doing that to Bette, and not some bulls&%t story. The actual truth. if i were Bette, I would just fire her,take her keys to everything, and have her escorted from the bldg., without a lot of drama. Then change all the locks, have an accoutant go over the books and if anything is missing, file charges and lock her up in jail. If she was capable of such subterfuge for so long, what else has she done. She could have diverted funds from Bette’s earnings and as long as she was the only one controlling everything, who would know. Bette could be in financial trouble w/o even knowing it. This woman is cold hearted and cares for no one but herself. Once Bette finds out that she is financially sound and the club is financially sound the she needs to tear Maxine a new a%&hole and send her packing. She needs to get maxine’s name off all accounts, etc. This story is great. Thanks for the post.

Wow you nver disappoint do you! I think Maxine’s behaviour is totally out of line. However I would also like to see her apologize to both Bette and Julia at some point in the future, like after quite a while, and then they can become a family again. Even if that is unrealistic I would really hope that Bette can recover from the shock and anger enough to be okay meeting her daughter. It is going to be so special and I can’t wait to see Jessie and Jules together either. Such a great story. Keep it up. Again thanks for posting.

Oh god I am dying! I sure hope that you are able to post soon. Please hurry. I can’t wait to see what happens when Bette finally fires Maxine and then lets her know that Julia is actually on her way to her home. Then, I hope that Julia understands everything that has happened and that she can accept Bette as her mother.

I cannot believe that Maxine could be so nonchalant about finally sharing that information with Bette. She’s so cold and distant. Telling Bette matter-of-factly how she told Julia or her parents that the birth mother died during childbirth. I can understand that as a mother she wanted what was best for her daughter, but she manipulated her daughter’s life. She manufactured lies after lies and she doesn’t seem a bit concerned by the hurt she caused. It’s like she tried to build the perfect world she wanted for herself and her daughter and she didn’t care if she destroyed her daughter in the process…as long as their lives seemed perfect to the outside world. That is truly sad.
And I need you Lauren to post again and soon….this is good stuff and I can’t wait…. :o))
