Without uttering another word she stood but before she could begin her descent into the crowd an arm gripped her wrist and yanked her back down.  “Whoa Dennison, don’t run away from her.  My sister needs you, at least hear her out.”  Ashley’s smile had faded along with her beer that had now joined Kasey’s in the pit.

“Look I will alright, just not tonight.”  The short haired brunette was a little sterner than she wanted to be but she was becoming irritated with the constant pushing.  “I just wanna chill tonight, completely forget about all the fucked up shit that’s happened.”  And with that she stood and disappeared into the growing mass of people.

“Maybe I should talk to her?”  Spencer was about to follow after her but was stopped by Madison.

“I wouldn’t.  She seems a little edgy tonight.”  Ashley nodded in agreement.

Kasey did feel edgy tonight.  She also felt lost, empty, and angry.  It was a horrendous potpourri of emotions but ultimately she knew she would somehow have to sort through them.  She found herself a quiet corner in the yard and went through the events that had apparently taken place that infamous night.  It wasn’t until she had replayed the scenarios in her mind a million times and had given herself a headache that she had finally come to an appropriate and obvious conclusion.

‘It only took you what…three bloody days to figure this shit out?’  Kasey wanted to smack herself for being such an idiot.

Without hesitation the girl made her way back to the fire and immediately spotted a sullen looking Kyla.  To the young Davies’ surprise, Kasey took a seat next to her.  Kasey glanced up and smiled when she noticed they had an audience; Madison, Ashley, and Spencer tried to look away quickly as if something behind them had caught their attention.

“Hi.”  Kyla’s meek voice brought her back from the humorous threesome.

“Hey.”  Her smile faded.  Kyla had no idea that Kasey knew about her supposed drunken affair with Eric.  To make this work, she wanted to know that she could be honest with her even if the truth would hurt.  “What…What happened that night?”  Kasey knew it wasn’t right to play dumb but she had to hear it straight from her girlfriend’s lips.
