    She made a date, she got anxious, and she got pissed

    “You get into a lot of… confrontations don’t you?” Jess observed as she blew the smoke threw her nostrils.

    Dano smiled and flicked some ash off of the bright red cherry of her Marlboro “War is my middle name.”

    The shorter girl laughed which caused her companion to arch an eyebrow. “What? No really, my middle name means ‘she who returns from war’ in Navajo.”

    “Actually?”

    “Uh huh.”

    “Cool. So… What’s new with you?”

    “Nothin to special.”

    “Liar.”

    Her eyes narrowed in confusion for a moment.

    “You couldn’t stop grinning while you were praying.” Jessica explained. “I first thought you got some action but then I realized you only looked like that when you got it from Madison. Did you two get back together?”

    Thrown completely off-guard, Dano could only stare at the girl in shock. There were three people out of every single person she knew that were able to read her so well and before this moment, Jessica had not been one of them. Still it kind of intrigued her that she was being watched at all by the beautiful girl. “So you were checking me out is what you’re saying.”

    Jess’s eyes widened for a moment at what she had unintentionally divulged before she blushed beat red and chuckled in embarrassment. “You caught me.”

    “I didn’t know you were into girls.” she stated, flicking her spent cigarette towards the parking lot.

    “I’m not really, just curious I guess.”

    Her green eyes cast downwards, staring at the asphalt as she interpreted the meaning behind the words. “About being with a girl or about being with me?”

    “Both… but I think we totally just got off track because we were talking about your good mood right?” she said.

    It was obvious to Daniella that she wanted to change the subject. The unintended admission made the air around them change into something more tense. She was flattered and a little interested but there was no doubt in her mind that anything with Jessica would only be a short fling. That girl was straight and in another time, Dano would have already taken her to a more secluded spot and physically answer whatever questions she may have had, but that was before Madison. “Yeah. I phoned up Mads yesterday and we’re chillin tonight.”
