She walked back over to me and pointed to a closed door, “There’s the bathroom. Feel free to use whatever.”
”Thanks.” I shuffled over and into the bathroom, quickly changing. I decided against invading her privacy and didn’t open any of the drawers or cabinets.
I returned to the couch, after setting my shoes and clothes next to the door, and sat back in my earlier seat. A menu screen for a DVD was on the TV. Both my eyebrows went up when I saw that it was New Moon. I looked at her in question.
This time she looked at me, “What?” I glanced at the television then at her. She shrugged, “Isn’t this the crap you’re into? Boys that sparkle and shit?”
I chuckled, “No actually.”
She heaved a sigh of relief, “Thank G-d! What do you want to watch then? I’ve got most of the movies that are in theaters.”
I took that to be a challenge, “How bout… It’s Complicated?”
She smirked, “Good choice. And yes.”
She turned away and clicked some buttons on the remote, went through several screens, and the movie began to play. About half way through, she got up and left the room. She returned a few minutes later with a big bowl of popcorn. Instead of sitting at the end of the couch, she sat in the middle and began to eat the popcorn. I waited quietly for a few minutes but I really wanted some popcorn so I scooted over towards her. She moved the bowl to be between us and I took a handful.
The movie ended and she turned it off, moving the popcorn bowl to the table. “I assume you are spending the night?”
”If that’s all right.”
She nodded, “Sure but I haven’t held a party or anything in awhile so I don’t know what else there is to do.”
”Well… we could talk? I don’t exactly know you very well.”
She looked at me, surprised, “You want to get to know me?”
I shrugged, “Yeah, I guess so.”
She nodded and smiled softly, “Alright, but can we do it over here? I want to lie down.” With that, she jumped onto the bed and snuggled up to her pillow.
