She didn’t even look up at him, simply picked up the Lego set and held it up. After a minute, he took it from her and placed the card in her hand. He stood there for several seconds. Everyone seemed to be halted in time. Then the bell suddenly rang and Aiden shot out of there while everyone but Ashley remained sitting there, shocked.
She calmly stood up, gathered her stuff, and walked around her desk. She slowly walked up to me, “Get up, we’re leaving.”
There was nothing I could do. I glanced at Madison but she quickly looked away. I swallowed and took a deep breath as I stood up, having no stuff to gather up, and walked out of the class, the last of my dignity spilling onto the floor with every step.
”Do you need anything from your locker?”
I kind of needed some books so I could study over winter break but I really didn’t want to go over there and have to face all those people, “No.”
”Good. My car, now.”
I nodded and proceeded walking as her presence disappeared. I didn’t need to follow her to her car; everyone knew what she drove. It wasn’t exactly common for a student to be driving a Porsche.
Her car eventually came into sight and that’s when the fear started to form. With each step it seemed to get worse and worse. It felt like everyone was looking at me and I had to pick up my walk. I nearly collapsed on top of the car when I finally got to it. Luckily I didn’t because Ashley would probably skin me alive if I did. She loved this thing. I was told that Aiden had once painted it up to ask her to prom and she’d screamed at him before kicking him below the belt. I cringed and took a step away from the car, afraid to breath on it after that memory.
I jumped slightly when the car beeped. “Get in.”
I looked up as Ashley briskly walked over and quickly got in. I nodded to no one and slowly took a hole on the car door and pulled on it. I gently opened the door and got into the car as she started it. I slowly and gently closed the door but that of course didn’t close it.
