”Miss Davies, it is finally your turn.”
Everyone except me turned to look at the back of the room. I ever so slightly heard her desk move as I assume she stood up. It was eerily quiet in the room because everyone knew about our mutual hatred. I heard her footsteps as she walked forward and I eventually saw her in my peripheral vision. She walked up to Aiden’s desk. I watched quietly, everyone did, as she came to a stop.
Then she continued walking, back up the aisle and straight to my desk. She grabbed the box and walked back to her desk without a word. It was almost a collective sigh that went through the room. I smiled and stood up, walking quickly to the front of the room. There was no way in hell I was going to take a chance and steal a present. Now that Ashley had gone, Aiden was definitely going to keep his gift. I grabbed the last gift, spun around, and opened it. It was a gift card to Starbucks. Perfect. Not because I liked Starbucks, but because Ashley did. I didn’t even glance at her though as I went back to my desk and sat down. I didn’t need to see her scowling face because I was already happy enough.
”Well, class is about to end and this lovely event is pretty much over but as is part of the game, I have to offer Mr. Dennison a chance to steal a gift in exchange for his own. But the person he wants to steal from must agree to a swap.”
My heart jumped slightly but I quickly relaxed, I had no reason to panic. I glanced at Aiden as he remained seated before turning towards Madison. I smiled at her which she quickly returned. Then her smile turned into a frown as her gaze left mine.
I swallowed visibly before turning around. As I swiveled my head, I could see that everyone was staring towards Aiden’s desk, a few with their mouths open. My heart began to race as panic began to set in.
There was Aiden standing next to his desk, unmoving. He slowly turned and glanced at me for a split second before glancing away quickly. He seemed to be moving in slow motion as he walked to the back of the class. This time, I turned to the back, as everyone did. We all watched as he walked up Ashley and stood there stupidly, holding the card firmly with both hands.
