    Ash gets a visitor and the past rears its beautiful face… again

    As the song was nearing its third rendition, and my throat was beginning to get hoarse, the microwave finally pinged, informing me that my food was ready.  Just as I was pulling it out of the microwave, someone rang the buzzer on my door.  Shit, I thought, probably my neighbours moaning about the fact I’ve been playing the same song over and over again on full blast.  I doubted it’d be anyone else – the only person who ever came round regularly was Aiden, but he was out with the guys from the office, and apart from that the only other people who passed over my threshold were the random women I’d bring back at the end of an alcohol fueled night, but they’d usually be out the door again before they were even sober enough to remember where I lived, let alone my flat number.  The door buzzed again, reminding me that I still hadn’t opened it.

    I made my way to the door, still singing, and I threw the tea towel I was using to take my food from the microwave over my shoulder as I reached for the latch.  Checking the chain was on, I finally opened the door, shocked into a stunned silence by who I saw standing before me.

    “Hi,” she said uncomfortably, quickly looking into my eyes before darting her attention elsewhere.  She was standing near the back wall of the corridor, as far away from my door as she possibly could, and she played with her hair as she nervously stood there.

    “Spencer,” I said, in what I hoped to be a cool and collected way.  Instead it came out as a strangled squawk, and I wished to God I’d put a peep-hole in my door when I’d told myself I would upon first getting the apartment – four years had quickly passed by.  The similar nauseousness came flooding back and I fought the light-headedness I felt creeping up on me at the sight of her.  I hoped my weak legs wouldn’t fail me as I stood rooted to the spot, waiting for her to speak.  Nina Simone was phased out as the sound of blood rushing in my ears took over my sense of hearing.

    “Sorry, I…” she began, her hands twisting together as she looked up at me from the floor, “I got your address from admin.”

    2. Wow. Now we know why Ash is pissed. I would be too if the person I was falling in love with did that to me. Update soon, would ya? I’m ready for some more “project new girl”. :] Woot. And I think there might just be more behind the story then what is at first revealed. Hmm?
