“Cool…” Ashley stated with furrowed brows.

“Well, do you like it so far?” the jock questioned.

“Yeah,” answered Kyla, “The weather’s nice. Thank god for Spence, though,” she motioned to Spencer with her hand and Ashley narrowed her yes at the second use of a nickname. “Without her, I’d be lost as hell at that school of yours.”

Spencer smiled, "No big deal. I just remember what it was like when I moved here five or so months ago.”

“Yeah, good times,” Aiden smirked as he took a sip of his coffee.

“Annnd on that note,” Ashley glared at Aiden, “I’m going to the restroom. Spence, come with me.” Before the blonde could object, Ashley had her by the wrist and was tugging her to the restroom.

“What is it with girls?” the jock looked at Kyla, “Why can’t you ever go to the bathroom by yourselves?”

“It’s over your head, hot shot.” Kyla said matter-of-factly, looking towards the bathroom with a smirk. It was almost as if she knew something.

“Okay, Ash. What is it because I know you didn’t drag me in here to listen to you pee.” Spencer crossed her arms over her chest and leaned against the bathroom wall, holding her balance with one foot while the other was against the wall.

Ashley had her hands on a sink as she stared at herself in the mirror, “She’s cute,” was all she said. Her tone wasn’t quite readable.

“Uh, yeah, I guess.” The blonde furrowed her brows as she walked over next to Ashley, “What’s on your mind?”

“You guys seem really buddy buddy.”

“Ash, what are you saying? I don’t—” Spencer shook her head in realization, “You think I like her.” It wasn’t a question but a statement.

The brunette didn’t speak but shrugged in reply.

“She’s just a friend,” the blonde explained, but Ashley kept looking in the mirror having a staring contest with herself. “A straight friend,” she tried hopefully.

“How do you know?”

“Ugh,” the blonde grabbed Ashley by the shoulders and spun her, so they were facing. “I know this because she’s in two of my classes. Both of which I had to sit and listen to her gush about all the hot guys we have at King.”
