Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 9: Well, Who Have We Here?)

Chemistry. A class where there’s many dangerous chemicals, and you deal with fire. Not smart considering that the majority of the population, today, is pyro. Oh, well, Ashley figured she could have some fun in the class, so she signed up for it. It just happened to be one of the three classes that she had with Spencer.

“Okay, everyone,” the teacher, Mrs. Strope began, “We have a lab, today.”

“Another one?” a random student asked from the back of the room, “Mrs. Strope, we’ve been having labs every day for the past two days.”

“Well, this is the last of the series,” Mrs. Strope smiled brightly. “As you know, we’ve been studying the gas laws and of the effects that volume, pressure, and temperature have on each other. So far we’ve done Boyle’s Law and Charles’ Law. Our final is Gay-Lussac’s Law.” She wrote it on the board and the class erupted into tiny giggles. “Please try to be mature with the spelling. It’s French and pronounced GUY not gay. I’m going to be nice and let you choose your own partners since I’ve been sticking you into pairs, myself, lately. Choose a station and hop to it.”

Spencer made her way to an empty station and began to sort out the materials. Two beakers, a flask, syringe, pressure sensor, thermometer, stand, stirrer, and plenty of ice to cool down the temperature of the water to get the proper measurements. The purpose of this experiment was to test the effect of temperature on pressure on an enclosed gas.

Ashley sauntered over to Spencer “Well, hello there, partner.” she winked.

The blonde looked up at Ashley and tilted her head, “Psh, who said I wanted to work with you?”

The brunette put a hand to her heart, dramatically, “Ouch, ya cut me real deep, Spence!” she sniffed and pretended to tear up, “Just say it, you hate me. I’ll go cry in peace.”

“God, over dramatic much?” Spencer sighed. “I was kidding. You just to promise to help me and not sit there like dead weight, like you did the last time we were partnered?”

“I resent that statement,” Ashley said as she narrowed her eyes at the blonde.
