    It’s decision time for Ashley, is tonight the night?

    ‘I know, I know. Addy was just the same if you remember?’ I thought back to our first meeting, ‘she asked me out in front of my fucking girlfriend before I knew what the hell was going on!’ Kate exclaimed.

    ‘Yeah, that’s true,’ I hadn’t thought about it like that but now saw a few similarities in the situation.

    ‘But you saw the whole thing, saw us together and made it so easy for which I am so fucking grateful,’ Kate’s voice had gotten even deeper which meant she was feeling pretty emotional. ‘If Spencer had seen you with May, she wouldn’t have done that. As for May, she wants you, wants to love you I think and nothing is going to get in the way of that. If I’d have turned Addy down that day she would have just kept on coming for me until I came to my senses and left you.’ Kate sighed and her words rang true, I didn’t really have much of a choice. No, we always have choices but this was the right choice.

    A knock on the door disturbed us and my sister poked her head in.

    OK, so I knew Kate wasn’t emotionally stunted but what I’d just overheard showed me new depths. I hadn’t meant to eavesdrop but I didn’t want to interrupt and was also worried about my sister. When they stopped talking I knocked and looked into the room.

    ‘I’m sorry, I kind of heard most of that but didn’t want to interrupt,’ I admitted quietly as I stepped into the room, I’d rather be honest, it was much less complicated.

    ‘S’ok sis,’ Maggie smiled softly at me. ‘Looking out for me huh?’ I nodded shyly as I stared at the floor.

    ‘S’cool Aust, we’re good.’ Kate nodded at me, we’d known each other a few years now but until she was openly dating Addy and hanging with us we’d never been really close. Now I’d consider her a close friend, part of the inner circle as Spencer called it.

    ‘Cool, sorry but I had to be sure you were OK,’ I directed this at my sister, normally she would have been surprised but today things had started to change.
