My One Special One – Chapter 20

My One Special One – Chapter 20

    Previously…

Bette loved this woman with all her heart.  She knew she could never leave her and would certainly be devastated if Tina left her – but married? Before Tina there was no one she had even contemplated living with, no less the major step of ‘marriage – with or without society’s blessing.

Why do seconds seems like hours when someone is silent?

    “Bette?”

Bette just stared at Tina.  It was indeed a look of adoration, but that is all that there was – a look – no words.

“Bette, please talk to me. Is getting married one giant step too far…at least right now, or…ever?”

The deep brown, soulful eyes continued their intense gaze.  Bette placed her hand on Tina’s cheek.  She let her fingers trace over Tina’s face and her eyes concentrated on the trail her fingers took – fingertips sending mini lightening bolts of sensual energy to Tina’s silky soft skin.

…but still there were no words.

“Bette, honey, you’re scaring me a little bit here.”

In almost a reverent whisper, Bette spoke.

“You are what I have always longed for…no, you are what I have needed to make my life complete.  Never did I think I would be blessed with someone like you, Tina.   Marriage wasn’t anything I ever thought about.  Perhaps that’s because there was never a time I thought I’d be on the receiving end of such a love.  Whether same sex marriage is recognized or not, the act of committing ourselves in ceremony between ourselves or with our friends and family watching…well, it’s an awesome step.”

Tina had to ask the questions.

“Bette, do you love me but not quite trust what we have – not trust the chance that ‘this is it’ – or are you simply afraid that despite how we love one another, life will intervene and destroy us?  Do you think you don’t deserve what we have?”

“Tina, I won’t lie to you.  I’ve often sat in wonder and awe of your love for me.   I’ve been through so many meaningless ‘relationships’ with meaningless women for any number of meaningless reasons.  After a while you do begin to believe that it’s the only thing you do deserve.   Yes, there is a very small part of me that thinks this is way, way too good to be true; if I take a wrong turn or say something stupid, the good graces that led you to me will rip you from my life.  Baby, if that happened, I truly don’t know that I will recover because a love like this isn’t an every day happening.  With or without society’s blessing marriage is the final step…”

    1. Hey Arceextl, That was jaw droppingly beautiful as Bette suddenly became the child and Tina the adult. It was tender as Tina coaxed the truth from her lover about her fears and issues with repeating the past. Thankfully Tina was there to reassure and support Bette throught this troublesome sea of concerns and navigate Bette to the safe haven that is Tina’s warm and welcoming arms. Gorgeous and gentle. Thank you for this pleasure and delight. Your Loyal Fan.

    2. I love this story and your writing, I hope you know that by now, but this chapter wasn’t doing it for me I’m sorry to say. I can’t exactly say why, only that this wasn’t the way it should’ve happened if you ask me…..I don’t feel that Bette wants this 100%. But I’m really looking forward to the wedding and especially the honeymoon LOL. Post soon…

    3. Wow, so beautiful! Bette said YES, that’s a good thing, though I feel they might be rushing things a little. I mysself would be happy just moving together without doing the marriage thing as well. Ove your story, so keep it coming! Thanks for posting!

    4. I love your poems, they are eyes to most of our inner souls. You can love someone and still struggle. Usually that struggle is whether they are still going to be there when you wake up. I am glad that you posted this chapter. This story brings two beings together with all their flaws and pain and puts them together as one.

    5. R – I agree…’family’ isn’t defined by blood. Blood means nothing to the body without the heart – the organ that pumps the blood. If you listen to your heart it will tell you who your family is. I love your writing, your story, and especially your poems. Thanks for writing, and as always, can’t wait for more.

    6. Beautiful. It always sends a chill through my spine when the communication between these two is so open. Tina can be such a pillar of strength and Bette is so lovely when she opens up and shares her insecurities . I love this story.

    7. I swear I could go through a whole box of tissues reading your work. lol So Bette didn’t say yes, but in a roundabout way she did. All that matters is she didn’t say no. Looking forward to more!

    8. sounded as close as a yes to me… love this story… love how bette opened up to tina… and i know they will always be there for each other… bette and tina forever… thanks… please continue
