    You’re my home – chapter 28

They ignored every study going that said that long meetings were counter productive and even destructive. But oh no – lets have a senate meeting in the middle of the hottest spell of weather that LA had known in a decade. Despite taking great care to dress in the coolest cotton clothes that she owned she had still sweltered along with the others. At least she hadn’t been wearing a Harris tweed suit like the Pro Vice Chancellor who she though they might have to revive with open heart massage at one point.

But on a personal note she was pleased with her own contribution and they had rubberstamped Jodie’s expulsion. Phyllis had tipped her off that it might not be plain sailing as there were a few people who were worried about a law suit for unfair dismissal but the University’s lawyer had looked at Jodie’s contract and it was watertight – of course it was bloody watertight – Bette and Phyllis were not fools. So the guarantee of no law suit had been enough and she was now history. That was a relief to Bette who didn’t want the artist around now that she was building such a fantastic relationship with her only true love – Tina.

Bette got out of the car and went into the house- she hoped that Angie was still up and about – it was getting close to her bedtime and Bette wanted to spend some quality time with their child. Tina was sitting on the edge of their bed combing Angie’s hair out . The little girl looked so cute in PJ shorts and a thin tee-shirt – her curly dark hair gradually drying as Tina combed it

“Momma B “ the little girl saw her mother

Tina grabbed her “Oh no young lady – you are not moving until your hair is tidy”

    “But momma “

Bette sat on the bed and rested her hand on Tina’s back

“I will brush her hair “

    “Yes “

“Are you saying I am rough with you ?”

“No but your hair is straight – momma and me have curly hair “

    1. AllyE, you always amaze with the way you write “our girls.” Your dialogue for them is oh so perfect and so relaxed. They are simply in very close conversation with each other and it shows. It is so easy with them and so loving toward each other. Little kisses, hand squeezes and embraces, so natural and you show it all. Simply beautiful and wonderful. Hope Shane gets her act together and hopefully she does not take herself to the brink of destruction with the drugs and alcohol. Maybe Bette or Tina will be able to find Carmen and bring her back to Shane. Wonderful story and wonderful chapter. Post when you can.

    2. I hope that Bette can find Carmen and talk her into coming back to Shane, it would be good for both of them. It’s GREAT to see the Kennard-Porter family in such a good place. PPS :o).

    3. nice chat with bette and tina! shane once she finishes hitting bottom she will talk to someone. but she does need to grow up! so what is bugging alice? :)PPS

    4. Hello AllyEmmerson, I am loving the new and fresh posts of this terrific tale. Fabulouis characteristation and humor in their wise words. Good to have Tina and Alice trying to shake Shane out of her doldrums. At least this provided Alice with an excuse to ignore her attraction to Clea. Good to know that Tina felt somethng was off with Alice. Then Bette and Tina show the wonders of a true and loving partnership as they converse and share their days and opinions. Just so precious that everything that they have been through has made them stronger and more open. I just adore your talent for dialogue. Perfection in words. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.

    5. Hey,every group of friends has the one or ones that holds them all together. Bette has always been the main lead, and Tina has been the calming influence. DAmn they do make a perfect couple. Love Angie with brushing the hair.

    6. What the heck will straighten Shane out. Everyone has tried talking to her, reasoning with her but non of it seems to sink in. Let’s see what Bette can do with Carmen.
