    Window of Opportunity ch. 56

We all sat around eating too much and talking too much. It was perfect. We all just got along so well and when coffee and cake were brought out, I thought I would explode but the cake looked good so I had to try. After the second piece, I admitted to myself that I had pigged out and had to stop. I asked what the cutoff time was for checking into the hotel and both Sam and Catherine just laughed. They told me this was not the big city. There was no cut off time. There were reservations and that’s all that mattered. We sat around and talked for hours. When Angie started to fall asleep, before Tina or I could move, Catherine was up to get her ready for bed. She hugged and kissed everyone and headed off.

By 10 the yawns were starting to occur and Sam offered to take the others to the hotel. They gladly accepted and plans were made for the next day. We all had helped clear the table earlier so there wasn’t any clean up to do. Because we were exhausted, we bid Catherine a good night and headed to our room right after the others left. We checked on Angie and she was sleeping so peacefully surrounded by all the Dora paraphernalia.  When we got to our room, we quickly changed, brushed our teeth and crawled into bed. After a quick kiss, Tina’s breathing was the one I recognized when she slept. I knew I wasn’t too far behind.

The day started a little rough but ended better than I could have expected months ago. Here I was lying in bed with my soon to be wife in her parents’ home. Regardless of the path that was taken to get here, regardless to how they treated me in the past, I truly felt like I belonged here. They had somehow become my family too. I like Tina, didn’t realize that I was missing something until they became part of my life. As I drifted off to sleep and moved closer to Tina, I know how truly blessed we are. Healing this past only makes the unknown future so special to look forward to. Tina would have her mother to discuss wedding things with. Her father would walk her down the aisle. When we became pregnant their thrill would not be able to be hidden. We were so incredibly lucky to not only have found one another again but to have them also such integral parts of our lives. I looked forward to the rest of our visit…at least the part with them and Luke. Shane and Alice…it was still debatable.

    1. Man, it is so nice to see that Bette feels so loved by others. Just getting that unconditional love from Tina’s parents seems to have made a huge difference in not only Bette and Tina’s relationship but with all those involved. Kit was extremely lucky that James was there to help her through all the bad times. I love James and am happy that you are writing him the way that you have. Hey just 9 days with the kids and the 3 with the teachers left in this school year. Summer is on it’s way. Yippppyyy.

    2. Great update! The way you write both Tina and Bette’s sides of the story is really well done – they focus on different aspects of the same event, but throughout, the love they have for each other and their family is the same. Thanks for sacrificing your opportunity for a nap to write for us!

    3. Lucky U to have a little man to wake U in the night. Thx for posting this heart warming story. I like it so much. So happy for Tina to have great parents & Ange to have grans who adore her & so nice for Bette to be accepted, respected and welcomed for herself not just as T’s partner. If only all humans/families could be so loving. Great for B & T’s other kidz too…and for Kit to have James and now Catherine is wonderful; she’s always so alone, its very sad but not in your story. Great chapter. Thx again.

    4. Lucky u patti to have 9 days to summer hols. Its winter here and 3 terms of 10 weeks until summer hols. Its winter here, snow on the hills, cold nights and mornings, lovely sun filled days tho’.

Your story keeps me smiling with every chapter I read and a few tears along the way. You write and post whenever you can get the chance. As always thanks!

    6. Man I hope my parents are this undertanding when I decide to tell them… I know that it was years for Tina’s parents to get to this place but I hope that I will not have to experience that. Glad that your getting a little rest..man those teething months are hell, I remember all too well from when my nephew was that age. PPS
