    Window of Opportunity ch. 51

“What’s going on with Amy? She seems nice.”

“She is. We’re getting to know one another. I like her and she likes me but she doesn’t like my reputation. She isn’t interested in anything more that a friendship because of that.”

    “Ouch!”

“Yes, but I brought it on myself. It’s time that I do something to change my reputation if I want Amy or anyone else to take me seriously.”

“What do you have in mind?”

“Watching Tina with her parents yesterday was something that really made me think. After everything that has happened in their lives, there is still love. I want that bond with someone. It’s not like I don’t have it with you guys but I’m tired of waking up to a different person every day. It’s not what I want Angie to see me as, as she gets older either. I have to grow up and start changing the things I do. For right now, I’m concentrating on getting Amy to see me for more than the reputation. Hopefully that’ll happen but if not, I’ll figure it out.”

“It’s a hard road to get people to see more than the reputation. Tina had a hard time initially thinking that I was willing to give up that carefree life for a relationship with her.”

“How did you finally convince her?”

“Just like now…time. I gave her no reason to doubt me. I stopped going to clubs and putting myself in situations that were either going to tempt me or leave her room for suspicion. Shane, if you want to change you can but you have to do it for you and not Amy or anyone else.”

“Yeah I know. After the whole Carmen fiasco, I think I just resigned myself to being alone for the rest of my life but that’s not what I want. I want the stability of a partner. I want a home with someone I love. I want to build something with someone.”

“Then you will. If we can help at all, we’re willing to do anything you need. It may be as simple as coming over to watch movies instead of going out but we’re here for you.”

“Thanks Bette. I know I can count on you. How are things going with you and Tina? You both seem so happy.”

    7. Fantastic chapter and so happy to see this post, I loved every word of it.You are doing such a wonderful job writing this story and everything is going so well. A new baby, a wedding, and adding on to the house all at the same time. But they have talked about it and will continue to do so it should be alright for them. Those kinds of things just tend to be a tad bit stressful.
