What I Want for Christmas – Part III

After Jodi left, Bette asked Tina if she wanted to stay for some tea.  Tina accepted and they drank tea and played with Angelica, doing puzzles and playing with various toys.  Bette filled Tina in on what Angelica had done over the week and showed her photos and Tina told Bette more about her trip.  Eventually it was dinner-time, Bette had some wild Alaskan Salmon to BBQ and she wanted Tina’s recipe for an Asian marinade with soy sauce, vinegar, scallion, garlic, and ginger.  Bette had tried to make it, but it never tasted the same.

Over dinner they talked about their upcoming plans.

“What are you going to do tomorrow for New Year’s Eve?”  Bette asked.

“I have to go into work for a few hours in the morning and then I’m spending the rest of the day with Angelica.  We have a date with Rudolph’s Shiny New Year.”

Bette shook her head she hated the New Year’s animated specials, and thought they were really inferior to the Christmas ones, but Tina insisted on watching them anyway.

“What are you and Jodi doing?”

“She’s been working on this 12 Nights of Gorilla Art project with some friends.  It’s their take on the 12 Nights of Christmas. They have been going out every night and making some clandestine art.  They’re doing a tour of the artwork or what’s left of it on New Year’s Eve and there’s party afterwards at a gallery space that will have pictures of the pieces.”

“So that’s what Jodi was doing when you called me on Christmas. Did she leave you alone on Christmas Eve?”

    “She’s Jewish, Tina.”

    “But it’s your holiday, Bette.”

“We had a lovely dinner and had time together after I put Angie to sleep.  They went out pretty late at night.  Each artist was responsible for finding a location and designing a piece and the others helped.  She missed a night or two, but felt strongly about not leaving Elise short-handed.”

Tina had no idea who Elise was, but she knew full well that they were together, if they weren’t visiting family they always spent Christmas Eve at home, and preferably alone, no friends.

After dinner, they bathed Angelica together and read her favorite books; she watched a favorite DVD and fell asleep on the couch.  Eventually, the conversation between Bette and Tina turned more serious.

    1. I really liked it. Tina laid all her cards on the table. Now, its up to Bette. She seemed pretty sure her relationship with Jodi wasn’t permanent even if she doesn’t get back with Tina. Angelica would probably love a little sibling. I’d love a B/T reunion but I also like that Tina told Bette that she wanted another kid.. and hoped she’d be in the child’s life either way.

    2. Hello Madcapper, I am really happy that you are back with this story. I love how you have both Tina and Bette laying their hearts and fears out in front of the other. This situation with Tina and another child is a little manipulative but it is nice that she is sharing in her emotions and taking her share of the blame for why they failed and stopped putting it all on Bette’s shoulders. I think that Bette is so very much “in Love” with Tina but I think it is time that Tina makes a grand Gesture to Bette, she should be the one going down on one knee to show her just how much she wants this commitment. I think Jodi’s time away from them allowed her to reflect and I think she might end up making the grand sacrifice, allowing Bette to finally follow her heart and soul, rather then stay where it is safe. I cannot wait for the next part, your writing is so deep and layered. Sincerely, JC

    3. Talking is the best way to solve a lot of problems. It really clears the air. If Bette and Tina does get together. That will be the problem solver TALKING thanks

    4. this was great madcap, right from the start and my picturing of tina in her boots…which was suggestive in itself. heehee…having them having more kids is a stroke of lovliness that i look forward to:) pps when you can

    5. Wonderful chapter and I went back and read the others and I love your story. Now that Tina has her self assurance back and is more secure in her relationship with Bette and put all her cards on the table. She has finally usurped the power in the relationship. With no more of that passive aggressive behavior she is now in full control of what happens in her life and that of her child. Jodi doesn’t really care all that much for Bette nor does Bette really care very much for Jodi but it beats being alone and they are certainly not happy with each other. Hopefully Shane can talk to Bette and help her to see what is in front of her face, the reality of being in love with Tina, even with hr fears that they might not make it long term. the risk is minimal and the reward is a lifetime of loving and being loved by Tina. What could possible be better than that and the risk of losing Tina to someone else is far greater than the risk of being with her. Waiting for your next chapter.

    6. This is getting good. Tina possibly getting pregnant with Marcus’s sperm and Bette fighting her feelings that continue to roar up is sounding very interesting.
