Tina: Oh?

Bette: (Emotional) I went to see her after I did some thinking and made a decision per your request.

Tina is silent

Bette: I thought about my life. when I cheated on you and my life when I lived with Jodie and all of my life in between. I discovered there were only two constants.

Tina: What were they?

Bette is quiet for a moment than calm but emotional.

Bette: The first was that slowly I was turning into a better person. More stable, more thoughtful, less selfish.

Tina is also calm and a little fearful.

Tina: And the second?

Tina holds her breath.

Bette: The second is you (short pause)… I’ve always loved you… through it all. And I believe you’ve loved me too. I don’t want to fuck that up anymore.  (Starts to move closer to Tina) What I have felt for every other woman both past and present, is nothing compared to what I feel for you. ( Bette s now close to Tina. Bette places her hands on Tina’s shoulders.) There’s nothing wrong with you Tina. There never was. The problem has always been me, and I’ve tried to escape responsibility for my bad behavior with Candace by thinking I’ve had some kind of sex problem, What is was, was a simple case of the grass is always greener.  Purely selfish motivation.  And with Jodie? I fell in love with the artist but not the person. Dan helped me to see these things awhile ago. It was  past time for me to grow up. 

My love for you is real Tina. I need you with me. I always have. (Bette starts to smile) And I do have this sex thing but it’s only for you. You’re hot! All my other lovers weren’t even in the same league as you.

Tina: (happy tears) And I decided that I love you so much Bette I was going to fight for you, To fight for us.

Tina pulls Bette’s head down for a kiss and Bette pulls her into her arms. and looks down at Tina with love and smiles,

Bette: You didn’t by chance leave a bed or a mattress here.

Tina starts to laugh.

Tina:  I think I still have my sleeping bag from the pink ride right there in the corner,
