Tibette, the final story “Run Away To Me”

Bette jumps up from the chair and tries to hold her.  She pushes Bette away and turns to run out. She takes a step then stops and turns around. Meanwhile Bette is crying out.

Bette:  Wait! Tina, don’t go! We need to talk this through! I love you!

Tina: (Bitter voice) Do you? Do you even know what love is?  What commitment is?

Tina still has tears in her eyes but speaks in a strong voice

Tina, You have some serious thinking to do (Pause) and so do I.

Bette: (In a panic) what do you mean?

Tina:  (Calm dissolution) but tears still falling) I know I love you. I have committed myself solely to you. (sigh) Now I have to figure out if I really want to be with a person that is so hard to trust. Maybe we’re not meant to be together.

The music starts to get louder.

Tina turns and leaves through the kitchen door.

Bette: (still panicky) Tina! Wait!  (starts to cry and shouts) Please don’t run away from me again! (Then softer) I love only you.
