“Baby, are you asking me to wear the ring that you gave to me once before?” asked Tina, her hand cupping Bette’s chin to lift her face so that she could look into Bette’s eyes.
“Yes.” stated Bette, fishing out the ring from her pocket.
“I didn’t think that I could love you more than the day you first gave me that ring, now I know different.”
“Is that a yes?” asked Bette, feeling the tears starting to form but not wanting them to fall until the ring was safely on Tina’s finger.
“Yes, it’s a yes.” replied Tina, as she took Bette in her arms, never wanting to let go.
When they finally broke apart Bette slid the ring onto Tina’s finger with a quiet reverence, neither of them quite believing that it was real. They looked at each other, through tears of happiness, neither of them knowing how to put into words what they were feeling. Bette leaned in and gently kissed Tina, letting her lips linger for a moment, wanting to seal the commitment that they had just made to each other.
For a few minutes, for Tina and Bette, the world had slipped away. It has just been the two of them, so therefore it came as a shock when the address system seemed to come out of nowhere.
“Did they just call our flight to the gate?” asked Bette, still holding Tina close to her.
“I think so.” said Tina, into Bette’s shoulder, not wanting the moment to be gone.
“Interrupted again.”
“I know, it’s the theme of the day.” laughed Tina.
“We should find Kate.”
“We could, or you could hold me for a little while longer.”
“OK, you win.” replied Bette, pulling Tina closer.
The second time their flight was called Tina and Bette both knew that their time was up and went back to the table to find Kate and make the walk to the gate. Bette walked a few steps in front of both Tina and Kate as she seemed to know that Tina would need a few minutes with Kate, just to talk through what had just happened between the two of them, and she surmised, what’s a few minutes apart when you’re going to get to spend the rest of your life with the woman that you love.
“You talked her into it, didn’t you?”
“I think we both know that only you have the ability to talk Bette into doing anything that she doesn’t want to do.”
“But you gave her a push in the right direction.”
“For once I’m not going to take any of the credit. Anything that Bette did or said came straight from her. I’m telling you something you already know but she loves you and the ring was the last step on the journey of her way back to you. Bette knew that it was right that it should be completed before you got back home, and now it is.”
“Thank you, for everything. I don’t know what I would have done without you.” said Tina, really wanting Kate to understand how much everything that she had done meant to her.
“Sure you do. You would have figured it out eventually, and besides you and Bette did all the hard work, I merely….facilitated.”
“Facilitated?” questioned Tina, eyebrow raised.
“Yeah, facilitated.” laughed Kate, as they reached the gate.
“Well, thank you anyway.”
“Anytime.” confirmed Kate.

OMG so sweet! I teared up like the sap I am. lol And I feel Bette’s pain with regards to the alarm. Many times I want to chuck my clock across the room in the mornings. =p

Great chapter – but It does beg the question will they make it without their facilitator? maybe they’ll have to fly Kate over to be their coach.

CG, That was another extraordinary moment beautifully written in Bette and Tina’s life together. There was a sense of resolution and completing the cycle as Bette slipped the ring onto Tina’s finger. Great chapter mate, I think Bette can do spontaneous, she just has to have a know that when it come down to Tina, she wants her so much that the possibility of rejection stops her being spontaneous – she’ll get to know that its the right thing to do. Confident Porter is back… Great, loved it.
