Evening at The Planet.  The place is jumping as Carmen is working her DJ magic.  It’s a fun time to be alive and a fun time to be with friends this evening.  As the crowd dances to her mixes, Carmen lets her mind go and basks in the moment.  This is her retreat from the heavy stuff and the rest of reality.

Carmen DJ’s at the club while Alice prepares to DJ at KCRW.  For Alice, it’s a different atmosphere as the music’s more relaxed and she talks about whatever topic strikes her for her show, The Chart.  Tonight, she’s mostly in a mood to just have some songs played.  There’s been too much thinking lately, she feels.

There’s a knock on the door at Alice’s apartment where tonight, it’s just Lara.  Lara walks to the door, checks through the peephole and opens it.  She’s not quite sure what she’s in store for tonight.  She just hopes it’s not bad.

Shane: Can I come in?

Lara: Yeah, sure.

Lara stands back and Shane enters the apartment.  It wasn’t that long ago, they came close to blows.  Lara closes the door as Shane takes a seat on the couch.

Lara: Alice is at work…at the radio station.

Shane: …I know.  I’m not here to see Al.

Lara takes a seat at the opposite end of the couch.

Lara: What can I help you with?

Shane: Look….I’m not here to fight or anything.  I…got the feeling when we were all at Bette and Tina’s that you mighta been still pissed.

Lara thinks back to seeing Carmen’s black eye.

Lara: She loves you, Shane.  I’m concerned about that.

Shane: …

Lara: Shane, what happens if you get pissed off at her again?  Huh?  What happens if we get to the wedding and you decide to run away like last time?

Shane: That’s not gonna happen.

Lara: Yeah and it wasn’t supposed to last time, but it did.  

Shane: Tell me something…

Lara: What?

Shane: …When Carmen kissed you…what was the first thing that came to your mind?

Lara: …The first thing…that came to my mind….was, "You’re not Alice."  Only Alice can kiss me.  I made that clear to her and ever since, she’s understood that.
