Queensryche – Silent Lucidity

“Hush now, don’t you cry.  Wipe away the teardrop from your eye.”

There’s a sense of overwhelming peace as the streams of the waterfall and river continue onward.  She sits there, relaxed and almost content to stay there forever.  She probably could if she was able, because to her it’s home now.  Eventually however, they will call and in fact they already have.  Dana hasn’t really cared to think of her mortality as much as she has the sheer joy of being at the falls.  The sound of the river flowing is soothing to her.  It’s where she wanted to be when she died and here she is.  She’d like to be there forever, but Heaven awaits.

Her name is Kara.  She arrives with flowing blonde hair and a red headband and Dana knows why she’s there.  She’s there to take her to her new home.

Dana: C’mon, Kara…just a little longer?

Kara’s angelic smile is always calming.

Kara: I know, Dana.  This is where you feel your connection to the Earth.  But it’s time.

Dana thinks back on what she’s seen since arriving at this state of existence.  Seeing her friends arrive and scatter her ashes.  Seeing two of the greatest loves of her life, Alice and Lara comfort each other.  Each time, Dana felt at ease.  But to her, there’s a sense of incompleteness she’d like to fill.

Dana: Look….before I go, there’s just something I need to know….well….a couple of things, actually.

Kara: Okay.

Dana: Can I at least come back here….y’know, so I’m not just stuck in one place, I mean….Eternity’s a long time, you know?

Kara nods.

Kara: Of course you can.

Dana: And….I need to say goodbye…  I never really got to do that with Al…and I ran Lara off…  I just wanna see if they’re happier now…

Kara steps closer to Dana and takes her hand.

Kara: We all wish to say goodbye.  I can understand that.  So does the boss.

Kara glances up for a second.

Kara: Al and Lara…please understand that they will not be able to communicate with you.  But you will be able to see them.  And if they believe enough, then maybe they’ll feel you for a brief moment.  But what you must also understand, Dana is that many do not.
