    Dana’s funeral

     

    How is Henry ?

     

     

    Helena asked politely.

    Very well – we just got back from a break in Florida – Mickey had a great time.

     

    And what about you – did you have a great time ?

     

    It was fine.

     

    Helena let the matter drop – working with Tina she did not want a bad atmosphere between the two of them. The studio was talking up most of her time and she had been delighted to have Tina on hand – she knew so much about the business. But Helena regretted Tina’s conversion back to "the dark side " — it was such a waste.

     

    They fell silent as the minutes ticked by – Tina watched as most of the gay women she had ever met all filed into the church. Shane came in holding Alice by the waist – they sat in the pew in front of the others. Immediately Tina leaned forward and gently touched the grieving blonde’s hair.

     

    Hey babe – how you doing ?

     

    Alice turned and gave them a weak smile.

     

     

    Shit — I miss her so much – how am I going to cope ?

     

    You have us – we will all support you.

    Helena took Alice’s hand and squeezed it — Alice smiled.

     

    Is there anything that needs sorting out — you said something about wanting someone else to deliver a eulogy to her ?

     

     

    Dana for the only time in her life had organised everything – she left a detailed file with everything down to the flowers.

     

     

     

    Shane explained nodding at Helena in acknowledgement at the offer. Tina looked at her watch – 10:56 – where the hell is he ?

     

     

    Shane saw a look of temper colour the blonde’s pretty face and exchanged glances with Helena who had also seen the look and heard the intake of breathe as Tina had realised the time and that Henry was going to be late.

     

     

    The door opened and Tina swung round to see Kit and Angus enter holding hands . Kit stopped at where they were sitting and hugged Alice.

     

    Baby – if there is anything ?

     

    You have done what Dana asked for Kit –thank you.

     

    My pleasure honey you know that.

     

    The doors opened again and this time it was Dana’s coffin followed by her family. They all stood – Tina reached for a tissue – she knew she was going to break down. Helena took her hand and squeezed it.

     

     

    As the coffin was borne past them Helena saw Alice slump forward – Shane caught her expertly and held her tightly.

     

    The service began with the Pastor talking in broad terms about losing someone so young and with so much life ahead of her.

     

    But Dana did not want this to be about grieving – she wanted this to be about life – she wanted her eulogy delivered by someone she loved very much. Bette Porter.

     

     

    Tina clutched the pew in front of her for support as she heard footsteps moving down the wooden church floor. Shane spun round and looked passed Tina – Tina looked at Shane’s reaction – her eyes were wide with shock.

     

     

     

     

     

    Tina stared very fixedly ahead of her trying to stop her body shaking with the shock of the name she had just heard – horror at the prospect of looking at the woman she had broken up with and never seen since their violent fight after Provocations.

     

     

    Tina saw the back view of Bette first — the long dark hair loose and looking as good as always. The tailored black silk coat that stopped just above black boots – it was a view that made Tina’s heart leap.

    Despite their time apart Tina knew that her physical attraction to Bette Porter had never changed – and never would.

     

     

    She turned and Tina’s heart stopped – it wasn’t the classically beautiful face or the soulful eyes that did it.

     

     

    Bette smiled at everyone and aware that everyone in the room who knew her was thinking the exact same thing – she consciously touched her obviously pregnant stomach.

    14. I was a little hesitant to read this one……I thought it might be too sad reading about Dana’s funeral, but knowing that you were the author, I knew it had to be good……and of course you didn’t disappoint. I love the L Wing and it looks like this is going to be another winner!

    36. Wow,nice! First I am glad that you did not make Bette pathetic and mourning after Tina. It appeared as though she was able to move on. Secondly Henry just rubs me the wrong way, not because he is a man but because, no matter what frame of reference he is placed in all I can see is him fucking Tina against Bette’s bedroom door in thier house. The way in which Tina went about the whole situation just makes me puke! So I will always regard him in a ill way. Besides that he is just not hot and has no chemistry with Tina, AT ALL! Anywho, please give us another chappy! Dying to know what happened with Bette after the two years!
