(For the smooth sailing advocates in the crowd; those who know me know me as a soulful romantic ~L~)

Sam was dozing on the couch the pain medication was taking its toll on her, she’d been totally useless for the last week.  The next week would be more of the same, the slice in her side ached all the time and her arm was still swollen, but she could use it rather well.  She’d have to do rehab on it, Jayden had promised to be as rough as she could be on her.  Shane had laughed at the thought of Jayden welding the whip as Sam grunted doing rehab.  Sam turned on the couch an episode of Angel played on the TV as Shane sat on the lounger and watched the episode, munching on popcorn.

She looked at Sam today had been her last day on the set of Earthlings.  They’d offered her a job in Vancouver on another show, but she’d declined, this was her home.  Shane found out that the show had been renewed and she was guaranteed a job when the season started if she wanted it.  Shane had told them that she did smiling at the thought of coming back in a few months.  The production company rep that had talked to her had told her they’d be shooting a movie in a month and that he might be able to use her, she told him that was cool.  It didn’t matter, as long as she stayed in LA.  She’d bartend at Atmosphere if she wanted money, but right now her sole priority in life was her love, Sam.

Shane continued to switch from watching the now additive Angel; to looking at Sam.  Her face a mask of pain at times.  Other times a smooth look of peace, her complexion not as pale as the day of the stabbing, Shane thanked god.

Alternating realities.  She looked again at Sam‘s right hand.  It no longer held the ring that she and C.J. had worn as their commitment to one another.  It had been a stunning shock to Shane to see her finger naked and bare.  It had been off since she’d been in New York, and at first Shane thought she’d forgotten it when she’d showered, but Shane had found it in a box on the dresser a few days ago.  She did wear the rainbow bracelet that her nephew Gus had given to her, but nothing else.  This woman was over her old love, and was forging into the world with a new one, her.
