    The Art of Chemistry (2)

    “Ow! Fucking rocks.”

Tina mumbled to herself as she tried to step across a particularly rough patch of ground to reach the soft beach sand. She didn’t want to cut her feet, but she had also left her shoes in the car, and she had stepped into the sand before she could hurt herself. It was times like that in which she lectured herself for being so careless, but she breathed out her frustrations as she walked onto the beach to look for her cousin.

She could feel others staring at her, but she was focused on looking for the blanket that would stand out like a sore thumb. And sure enough, a bright rainbow blanket could be spotted toward the east side of the beach. Tina chuckled and walked over.

As she got closer, Tina nearly stumbled over herself. There in front of her was the most beautiful woman she’d ever seen. Suddenly Tina was short of breath, just watching the bronze form under the hot sun. A beautiful black bikini barely covered the brunette, and black designer sunglasses made for a dizzying combination. As she stood in shock with her own sunglasses thankfully obstructing her stare, she was sure she had stopped breathing altogether. This woman was more than beauty. Tina was awestruck.

“You freak,” Alice laughed, rolling over to find her cousin just standing beside their beach blanket. She slapped her ankle and threw her bookmark at Tina, still laughing when Tina was slow to respond. “What are you doing? Did you fall asleep standing up or something?!”

Tina wanted to ask Alice to stop embarrassing her, but she was too stunned to be blunt. She was about to speak when Alice got up and pulled her into a hug.

“Oh my god, as weird as you can be, I just love that you finally made it!”

Tina smiled when Alice finally pulled back and plopped back down on the blanket. “You have to sit next to Bette, though. She’s tanning, and I think we both know I don’t approve of that.”

Tina had to laugh at her cousin’s strange mannerisms – as always – but she was quick to catch the woman’s name just as she saw the shades drawn up and brilliant soft brown eyes come to life.

    5. Hi GR thanks for posting! The way you describe the situations is so vivid! It’s so cute and hilarious. In the other hand, I can imagine how torturing it is to regret on your own awkwardness while you actually would like to be yourself and presenting the best of you in front of somebody! …Looking forward to read more! PPVS :-) and … Thanks for rivergirl2121 for sharing it with GR (and us) and giving her inspiration to write this story :-)
