Serena’s questioning look at Veronica told the woman that her friend had no idea what she was talking about.

“Oh, okay… I can’t wait to see the results. I won’t. Bye.”

“The finality of the verb?” Serena asked as soon as the receiver was down.

“Shop talk,” Veronica dismissed, “So… is it okay if you what?”

“Huh?”

“You came in here with a question…”

“Is it okay if I rewrite these contracts?”

“What contracts?”

“The contracts you had Wesley draw up about the Morrison merger.”

“Leave that to legal,” Veronica waved.

“Ronnie, I’m bored. I’ve completed seven laps around the building, making small talk. I’ve changed the ink in three xerox machines. I’ve replaced the hand towels in the ladies room.”

“We have maintenance to do that, Serena.”

“I’ve made coffee countless times. I need something to do,” Serena whined.

She dramatically through herself onto the couch against the wall.

“Go back to California,” Veronica suggested.

“I can’t.”

“Why not?” she asked sitting next to her friend.

“I just can’t, all right,” Serena sulked.

“There is nothing stopping you from going back to California… except maybe your pride.”

“Eat *****,” Serena dead panned.

“I can’t sweetie,” she laughed, “let go of this stubborn pride you have and go be with her. You know you want to,” Veronica dangled.

Serena closed her eyes and sighed.

“I’ll admit that I do. I give you that. But what about her parents? What about the age difference?”

“The age difference doesn’t bother me,” the voice whispered in her ear.

Her eyes popped open. Veronica wasn’t in the room with her anymore.

“What are you doing here?” Serena asked pushing away from the young girl.

“I came to see you on the off chance that you might…”

“Might what, Evan? Look you can’t be here,” she stated standing up.

“I escaped from my tour…”

“I’m sorry but you have to leave. I’m asking you to leave.”

“Serena, don’t do this.”

Evan grabbed at Serena trying to pull her closer.

“Evan, I’m at work.”

“The door is closed,” Evan smiled pulling Serena closer still.

“We can’t just…”

Evan held the woman tighter as her lips cupped Serena’s mouth. Slowly massaging the bottom lip, Evan’s tongue poked at Serena’s top lip begging entry. Faster than ever before access was granted.

‘Maybe Serena is becoming comfortable with our kisses,’ Evan thought.

But in Serena’s mind…

‘I can’t do this. But God, I am doing this. Why do I give up so easily? Is it because she’s a good kisser.’

The kiss deepened brining both Evan and Serena to a eager groping exercise. Hands on *****’, hands on traveling up arms and over shoulders to *****. Both getting their fill and squeezing.
