“To my dearest T, I asked Kit to only give you this letter if I ever decided to return to home and since you’re reading it now I must have decided to come home. This letter will explain why I haven’t contacted you in all the years I’ve been away. Firstly I believe that if I hear your voice or see you I will miss you more than I already do, secondly it would make me what to come straight back to you after you told me that my career was more important and that you wanted me to pursue my dream and lastly because I don’t think I could bear to hear the pain and despair in your voice or see the tears flowing down your face when I have to leave again. Love Always Your B xxx” I could feel the tears running down my cheeks. Bette’s letter made everything so clear. She was right not to contact me because it would probably kill us both if we were separated again

“Oh Tina” Kit takes me in her arms, I sob into her shoulder “She was trying to do the right thing” I clutch to Kit; I was going to breakdown the moment I laid eyes on Bette again I know I was. I felt it in the pit of my stomach

“I’ve missed her so much” Kit runs her fingers through my hair, I shake my head “Please don’t do that” Kit realises what she was doing and stops “I’m sorry it’s just the last time anyone ever did that was when I lying in Bette’s arms after we first made love” Kit nods her head

“And she’ll be doing it again when you’re lying in her arms after the gallery opening” I smile into Kit’s shoulder. I honestly hope that was going to be the case because I had missed Bette’s arms around me, I had missed her smile, the cheeky glint in her eyes but what Tina missed most was the feel of Bette’s lips on hers
