Joyce takes the microphone from Phyllis and says, “Yes it does. I would like to take a moment and say a few things about my beloved, if you don’t mind.” The guests all clap as Joyce turns to Phyllis and says, “It took me a long time to find you, but I’m so glad that I did. I know we’ve had our bumps in the road, but…” As Joyce speaks, Shane holds Molly tighter. Her gaze drifts from the podium to Molly. She watches her with love in her eyes. “…I know that those have only made our relationship stronger. We came apart, but we found our way back. Know that no matter what happens in our life together, I will always, always find my way back to you…” Shane moves her hand to Molly’s head and runs her hand along her hair. She lets her hand slide back down to the small of Molly’s back as Joyce continues. “…Just being with you makes me a better person…makes me whole…” Shane kisses Molly’s cheek. “…I love you and can’t wait to join my life to yours.”

Joyce kisses Phyllis as everyone cheers. Shane, however, does not clap. She is completely overwhelmed with what she is feeling at the moment. Every word that Joyce uttered, Shane understood. Every word described how Shane felt for Molly. Her heart swelled in that moment, as she realized just how deeply she loved Molly. She realized just how much she wanted to be with her forever, how much she wanted everyone to know. Lost in her thoughts, Shane does not hear Molly call out to her at first.

“…Shane? Shane? You okay, babe?” Molly asks, concerned.

“Huh?” Shane responds, as she comes back from being lost in thought. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry.”

“Are you sure? You were here, but your mind was somewhere else.”

“Yeah. I’m fine,” Shane says, as leans into kiss Molly.

“Okay. Come on. We have to go congratulate my mother,” Molly says, pulling Shane along with her. Shane follows behind, still stunned by her realization.

“Mom! Mom!” Molly calls out as she sees Phyllis a few feet away. “Congratulations!” she says as she throws her arms around her. Pulling out of her mother’s embrace, she turns to Joyce and offers congratulations to her as well. Joyce extends her hand, but Molly wraps her in a hug.
