Shane and Molly: A Love Story – Chapter 10

Shay is the midst of telling everyone the story of how his father taught him to ride a bike, when Shane and Molly walk back into the family room. Molly takes a seat beside Jenny, while Shane leans up against the wall, listening to the ending of Shay’s story. When he has finished, Shane speaks.

“Shay? Guess what?” she asks through a smile.

“I don’t know. What?” Shay replies inquisitively.

“It’s a done deal. You’re going to be living with us,” Shane says, happily.

Smiling from ear to ear, Shay gets up and runs to Shane. He wraps his arms tightly around her waist. Not wanting to interrupt this moment between Shay and Shane, everyone watches quietly with tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces. Shay pulls back from Shane, turns to Molly and throws his arms around her neck, hugging her. Watching this brings a tear to Shane’s eye. She kneels down next to Molly and Shay and hugs both of them. Unable to hold their emotions in check any longer, tears begin to stream down everyone’s face as their smiles broaden.

Eventually, Shane lets go of her embrace and leans back from Molly and Shay. Trying to lighten the mood in the room, she quips, “Now we just need to figure out where we’re going to live. There’s just not enough room at our house right now.”

Joyce chimes in, “Well, your father left the house and all his assets to you and Shay. Once you sell this house and liquidate all his assets, you should have no problem finding a nice house somewhere.”

Shay says, “I like the house you have now. The pool next door is the best part!” This makes Bette and Tina chuckle.

Bette says, “Shay, you are always welcome to use our pool.”

“Well, you might not need to find another place, Shane,” Max suggests. “I was going to wait until after the funeral to tell everyone, but I guess now’s a good time. Tom and I are moving in together.”

“You are?” Jenny asks, excitedly. “That’s great news! Congratulations!” She wraps her arm around Maw’s shoulder and pulls him close to her, giving him a hug.
