Jonathan: “Izzie dad’s coming home tomorrow”
Bette: “what?”
Tina: “what?”
Bette looks at Tina and so does Jonathan…He smiles and closes the door
Tina: “I can’t stay here”
Bette: “what?…well where are you going?”
Tina: “to a hotel…I can stay there…that way I’ll be out of your fathers way”
Bette: “no…no..no…your staying here…in this house…and under this roof…you don’t have to run….I can’t let you go…”
Tina: “but I wanna go…I don’t wanna be here”
Tina stands and grabs her things…She opens the door and heads down the hall…
Bette: “Tina…wait…Tina… wait…”
Mom: “what’s all the ruckus?”
Bette: “Tina’s going to a hotel”
Jonathan: “why?”
Veronica: “why?
Mom: “yes…why?”
Bette has tears in her eyes…
Bette: “because of daddy…she doesn’t wanna be around him”
Mom: “jesus crisis…”
Bette: “I can’t make her understand how much she means to me”
Mom: “Jonathan and Veronica go to your room”
Veronica: “but mama”
Mom: “go…now!”
Veronica and Jonathan head to their room…Bette’s mother turns Bette…
Bette: “go after her and make her understand…go”
Bette takes off after Tina…She’s waiting patiently by the car…
Tina: “I don’t belong here”
Bette: “of course you do…your family now”
Tina: “no I’m not…you heard the way your father talked about me…whose that white woman in the corner…huh like I wasn’t there…”
Bette: “forget the incident at the hospital…forget all of that…we want you here”
Tina: “we”
Bette: “yes…we…my mother, my brother, and my sister…do you know what they said when they found out that you were going to a hotel…”
Tina has tears in her eyes…
Tina: “what?”
Bette: “they asked why…all three of them…and if I’m doing my math right 3 is bigger than 1…please don’t run away from my father Tina…don’t let him win with his stubborness…I want you…I want every part of you so bad I can taste it…don’t do this…don’t let him destroy us”
Tina: “I’m not…I’ll come back tomorrow…I promise”
Bette: “okay…I’m coming with you then”
Tina: “what?… you can’t”
Bette: “and why not?”
Tina: “because this is where you belong…this is your home”
Bette steps closer to Tina…
Bette: “no this is their home…my home is with you…and without you there’s no me…so what you gonna do?”
Bette and Tina stand there in the driveway looking at one another…She waits patiently for the blond to respond….
Tina: “okay…I’ll stay”
Bette: “yes…yes…yes…god come here”
Bette and Tina embrace one another…She leans in close to her ear…She says the words that she’s been waiting a long time to say…
Bette: “I love you”
Tina looks at Bette…She smiles and says…
Tina: “I love you too…”
