Mom: “there’s alot that you missed…Elizabeth is happy…how long has it been since you saw her that happy with someone that she’s with?…as a matter of fact according to my knowlege this is the first person that she bought home claiming to be her partner…”

Melvin: “I’m sorry…I was unaware of that”

Mom: “ok…so don’t you think that it’s time to put it behind you and except her sexuality…she’s not gonna change Melvin…and if being with Tina is what makes her happy I think that you should take that into consideration”

Melvin: “my daughter being ***** is not condemed in the bible…the lord says…-”

Mom: “the lord says alot of things Melvin but she is our daughter…what are you gonna do deny her the satisfaction of being happy because she choses to date a woman…I won’t allow this to happen much longer…that’s our baby Melvin….our first born…and we both swore that we would love our children not matter what…it’s called unconditional love…so if you wanna go around hating and disliking what she does I’ll advise you to look in the mirror because your no different than anyone else is that denies there children love and affection because of their sexual preference…I thought that when I married you and laid down with you that we were on the same page…but I was wrong…you haven’t changed and you never will…”

Bette’s mother turns to leave but Melvin grabs ahold of her arm…

Melvin: “wait!…don’t leave…not like this….”

Mom: “why?…why should I stay?”

Melvin: “I’m sorry…I was wrong but you have to understand that being raised in a church does alot to a man…”

Mom: “yeah…like turning his back on his your daughter because she chose another way of life instead of the one that her father wanted her to take…goodbye Melvin”

Melvin: “no…please don’t go”

Bette’s mother slams the door in his face…Outside Bette holds Tina in her arms…They all jump at the sound of the door slamming…The nurse and doctor comes running down the hall…

Nurse: “any luck?”

Mom: “no”

Nurse: “so what should we do?”

Mom: “bathe him…and if that means strapping him down to the bed I instruct you to do so”

Doctor: “Ms. Porter are you aware that we might have to sedate him?”
