“I’m not used to this. Not at this scale.”
Jacques gave an exaggerated frown. “Now that is a shame. A lovely woman such as yourself should always be pampered.”
“And this is what you always do?”
“Generally. Although I must say that Ms. Porter’s requests were far more tame than some that we have received.”
“Oh.” Tina thought for a moment about all of the implications of that statement, and her eyes went wide. “Oh. Ms. Porter didn’t specify…”
Jacque’s response to the question, or to how it was asked, was a small giggle. “We are here to provide personal services, Ms. Kennard, but not of that sort.”
Letting out a breath, Tina gave a smile.
Just then Inga came down the hall. “Your bath is prepared, Miss Tina.”
She gave the masseuse a smile. “Please, just Tina.” She let the other woman, tall and blonde, show her into her own bath.
Her own bath, but transformed. Candles had been lit. The water was drawn and scented with floral-smelling salts. Inga placed a thick cotton robe, bath sheet, and towel on the counter. “We shall leave you to yourself. Please, take your time.”
The affect was still overwhelming. The housecleaning, the personal services. Everything directed at her.
She shed the jeans and blouse that she’d donned earlier, smiling as she noted that the back of the blouse was splattered with small clumps of oatmeal from Angelica’s breakfast. Wondering what the guests thought of the specks, had they seen them.
Testing the water, she deemed it a perfect temperature. Hot, but not uncomfortable. Sliding in, she let herself decompress and enjoy the feeling, even if she still found it decadent.
The water was relaxing. Unlike earlier in the day which involved looking over scripts from the slush pile and ensuring that Angelica stayed out of trouble, now she could just let her muscles unwind and let go of the tension.
Tension from work. Tension from, well, from wondering what Bette might do.
Now she knew Bette wasn’t willing to give up, and that made her smile. There was still a chance for the two of them.

Well, that didn’t go quite how I thought it would… I was all amped up for a few soft core moments… But then, I *am* a bit base. (So? At least I can admit it.) It was very sweet, though, and shows that there’s hope after all. Right then, I’m wracking my brain trying to think what Tina’s said “Yes” to… Maybe they’re going up in a hot air balloon? Lord knows Bette’s got enough to keep them going ’til Canada… Bungee jumping? Space camp? Hm, it can’t be something as tame as dinner, can it? Although, that would make up for the non-existent one they had last time. Unless, Bette *is* dinner… See? the baseness rears its head again. I’m sure whatever it is, it’ll all be very romantic, and not at all what I thought. Excellent (and lengthy! Yay!) update, pseud. Mille mercis!
Now that’s what I’m talking about, a nice long chapter, slow and stead build up…but with Tina all pampered up, I hope that she just doesn’t roll over. Bette was a complete b*tch last week and one day’s pampering doesn’t forgive the sin…certainly, it softens, but Bette still has to work at this…Thanks for the great post!!!

i have to go back and find the chapter where bette sends the card…is it the same card that she was writing when alice saw her? i wonder what Yes meant then…i think it was about Tina knowing Bette so well and letting her to get them to be “us” again
I’m sure the question was “Can I bring you dinner tonight so that I can apologize in person for my major fuck up?” Loved this chapter – Tina is not generic and that gift was perfect – pamper the woman you love!!!

That was a very thoughtful thing for Bette to do. And it appears she thought of it all by herself which makes it even better. It means she’s thinking about Tina and what Tina needs and wants. Dinner plans is it? To make up for Bette canceling their last date? Hope so. 0r maybe Bette was asking to come over. I say Bette bring wine and get Tina drunk and go from there! Great updates pseud.

Hey Pseud, What a wonderful gift. How typical of Bette to just know what Tina needed. You nearly had me dropping off to La-la land with that sweet and sensuous bathing then massage. Good to see that it appears to have had the desired reason as Tina is finally saying “Yes” to Bette’s suggestion. Love the way that you are teasing me but revealing a titbit at a time. Hey, I’m the reader here! Been a long time since I wrote anything but comments. And I did one ofs, so you’ll have to figure out what’s next. But as one who did a butt-load of spring cleaning this past weekend and wishes I could afford a massage, I can understand Tina saying yes to whatever it was.
Calling you a tease again just doesn’t seem to convey the sentiment enough.. I loved this part. It was long.. and really cool how many things Bette thought about.
