Planet Terror: The One Where Peggy Babysits

“MOTHER!” Helena flew away from Bette as Peggy appeared at the end of their bed, having let herself in. Caiohme sat calmly in the crook of Peggy’s arm, drinking a bottle and staring happily at her mommies.

Bette waved and grinned as her daughter broke into laughter.  Helena floundered around, trying to cover herself and Bette with the sheet.

“Oh Helena, this is perfectly natural!” Peggy’s tone was blasé. She walked forward to lay Caiohme on the bed between her mothers. “Though, I had hoped that you two lovebirds would have woken sooner. I have a hair appointment and really must be going.”

“Bye bye!” Bette waved with Caiohme as Peggy left.

Helena groaned, laying back down. She regarded her daughter who looked curiously back at her. Helena smirked and reached out to tickle the girl’s chin. “I think she knows she’s interrupted, and I think she finds it amusing.”

Bette turned the baby around. “Do you think that’s funny? Do you?”, she asked in a silly voice. Caiohme blew a spit bubble and laughed. “Yeah, she knows.”

Bette and Helena dressed while Caiohme rolled around on the bed, occasionally prompting Helena to nudge her closer to the center.

“Bette, Helena…” Alice and Lara walked in. “Oh, sorry.” They made a show of turning slightly. “Sorry. Anyway…hi Caiohme!” Alice babbled, greeting the baby, and then continued. “Have you seen Dylan or Catherine?”

Bette and Helena exchanged a worried look. Helena shook her head slightly, continuing to button her shirt. Bette raised her hands in defeat, looking around as though she could find answers in the walls.

“They’re gone?” She asked helplessly. Alice and Lara nodded. “You’ve checked the entire floor?”

“Their room, the hallways, and we asked the guards—no one saw them leave.” Lara added. “Their bed was slept in, their clothes were everywhere, but they’re not there.”

“Ok, lets get going.” Bette slung two lines of ammo across her chest, resolving to work out more when she felt their weight dragging her down. “I need to get some exercise.” She mumbled.

Once in the hallway, the women were immediately surrounded by armed men.

“Peggy Peabody said that everyone had to stay in their rooms.” One of the men said gruffly.

    1. rofl @ funnyone … anyway … this story is excellent babe! Peggy is sarcastic as always, I’m intrigued, what are they doing with the people down below? where have catherine and dylan gone? and if they were taken, who took them? why is Bette watching ‘what the bleep’? (okay so I *know* the answer to that one) and why oh why does she fancy the woman from it … that’s not a good sign !!!! *wink*

    2. This story is brilliant, especially because I just watched 28 Days Later for like the 500th time last night. So, they’re quarintining (sp?) the infected for what, to study them? See how long it takes for them to die? And how come Jaunty wasn’t quarintined too? Fucking rich people, they always have to do retarded stuff…anyways…good update…pps

    3. So good of you to throw we junkies a bone at long last. I think you’re a benevolent despot to your readers like Peggy is to her pool of infected. They seem to be immune, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. I suppose the rich won’t mind the origin if a cure/vaccination can be found.

    4. You know, reflecting on that last comment, perhaps the sarcasm is a bit heavy. I don’t really think you’re a despot of any kind. However, if YOU reflect on it, the reason I’m a junkie is that I enjoy your writing so much.

    5. Hiya, I normally don’t comment. Im a silent reader, lol. However this story is brilliant. I only started reading last week, but got up to date in like 3 days… and yeah a did kind of read some chapters at work… shhhhhI lover dawn of the dead and them movies, eventho i always get bad dreams somehow. I also got a bad dream after reading your story, which is a good thing, coz it means that your story affects me and interests me…. Don’t worry is nothing to do with your writting, but eberytime i see of one those movies i have a dream/night mare about it… lol. Anyway i love it and keep up the good work. Thanks for taking the time to entertain us talentless (in writing) folk… lol

    6. I missed this story! Thanks for taking the time to produce this installment under such challenging circumstances. No worries about the editing; if there was a drop-off in quality, I failed to detect it. I’ve been hugely entertained by this superbly written, multi-layered, and action-packed story from the get-go; it would make a mighty fine TV series. I’m also impressed by your refusal to confine your characters to an attitude of robotic stoicism, which seems to be typical of the genre. Bette’s outburst in this chapter was a perfectly human reaction to an intolerable situation. Finally, your warts-and-all portrayal of Peggy P rocks!
