Planet Terror: Little Shop of Horrors

“No…” Alice screamed, pulling away. “I could be one of them…I could be…” She gagged for the second time in a half hour, trying to calm herself, but shaking with fear and anger. Lara would not go away, and kept pulling her close. Alice was certain that she had swallowed a bit of blood, but could not tell if it was her own or the infected.

Bette stepped back, holding her gun steady. “Lara…” she said quietly.

“No…” Lara sobbed. “No!!!” She angrily threw herself at Bette, just as shots rang out from the hospital in the direction of Alice.

Both women looked helplessly at their friend.

Behind her, two of the infected had run quietly up, and the snipers from the hospital had neatly taken care of them.

Alice was still alive. Her eyes were a bright and healthy color, and Lara fell into her arms with relief.

“I’m sorry…” Bette began. Alice shook her head quickly.

“If it meant keeping her safe…” Alice nodded toward Lara, “I would shoot my own infected ass.”

They made their way quietly and tiredly back to the jeep, leaving the Chopper behind. The ride to the hospital was quick, and they were relieved when Aikane herself opened the downstairs side door, letting them in.

Hours later dusk brought forth new batches of infected wanderers. The ride back to the mall was treacherous, but Bette would be damned if anything kept her from Helena and their daughter.

Alice whooped as Bette drove through a line of infected, crushing and mangling them while the others chopped and shot from the side of the jeep.

Dylan greeted the blood soaked group as they arrived at the mall.

“Ew.” She said sarcastically, ushering them inside quickly. They all stripped down, the men carefully averting their eyes, and everyone was hosed down and guarded until all were certain that the infection had not found their way in.

Bette shivered, clenching her teeth—she smiled with immense relief when Helena and Catherine arrived with blankets and robes for all of them. Helena wrapped a large blanket around Bette’s naked form, leading her quickly back to their room.

    1. I just managed to get caught up with this. By all rights, it shouldn’t be half as captivating as it is, since it’s pretty strange…but I fucking LOVE it. I guess that speaks more for my own morbidity than it does anything else, but I’m really enjoying this. I may not make a hell of a lot of sense, but it’s still well done. I’m glad you’re still continuing it.

    2. I thought Al was done for… And although that was quite tastefully done, that’s about all the Tina I want to see in this story. Ace chapter… Now I’ll have to skive some more and read Life Happens. Thanks

    3. Ew, gouging out of eyes, I agree, I thought Al was done for, you’re mischievous when it comes to Tina, but you know that! I’m glad Al’s ok … stop scaring us like that, ok, don’t stop, cos then it wouldn’t be PT, but you know what I mean … grr .. hehe

    4. Un menage a trois? Mon Dieu! Took you long enough, I was considering sending another scolding your way. Death as an existance on an alternate plane? Philosophy on top of schlock horror? Get you, helebette. OK, so what’s the deal with Tina? Is she really from another plane or just the product of dream stuff? Is there a difference between the two? And what’s with the zombies getting stronger and smarter with time?

    5. Quelle nail-biter. I really hope Alice doesn’t end up zombified or dead. Zombification is a natural fit for Jenny, but Alice functions best as a human being. Not to mention that taking her out of the picture would deprive the survivors of some much-needed comic relief. LOVE the shopping-mall setting, with its Dawn of the Dead overtones (original version I hope).
