Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 68, Finale part 4C: Chapter: Last curtain – The End is Here, finally.
Agent McKinnon gasped, “What the…” she didn’t finish and moved the book closer to stare at the image. Helena glanced at the picture and beamed. “I rest my case.”
Alice sighed, “Okay, I confess. I time traveled.” Agent Johnson coughed like he choked on some food. Agent McKinnon leaned back on her chair and exhaled. Helena folded her arms and smirked. Alice pretended not to notice their reaction as she continued, “First, I went somewhere in the distant past. I don’t even know what century it was…the 13h or 15h century maybe? All I remember was a lot of men on horses. There was this one guy with blue paint on his face yelling, ‘Freedom’ for some reason.”
Agent McKinnon rolled her eye but remained silent. Agent Johnson looked clueless. Helena frowned.
“That was very exciting so I decided to check other times and places to see if I can meet some famous people. On one of those trips I met Radcliffe Hall and told her how depressing her book was and that it was not very inspiring to modern lesbians. Well of loneliness, indeed. She wrote it as if the happy-ever-after didn’t exist. How gloomy. My last trip was to see Sappho and ask her to decipher one of her poems. I mean, come on. ‘I tremble and grow pale for I’m dying of such love or so it seems to me’. What was she trying to say? Is she in love or in lust? Or did she catch flu or something? I doubt the poetry in those times had allegorical or metaphorical meanings, so I had to know. I’m sure you understand my concerns, Ms. Peabody, being a Sapphic woman yourself.”
Helena grinded her teeth and shook her head, “You are mistaken. The past doesn’t concern me at all, Alice. All I’m interested in is a confirmation that Bette and you time traveled. I assume…”
“Don’t assume,” Alice interrupted. “You know the meaning of assume? It’s to make as ass out of you and me. I can’t confirm or deny your accusations without my editor’s approval. And he’s away on the Caribbean cruise, so there. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.”
“My, my, Alice. You are full of…” Helena paused, searching for the right word. “Amusing platitudes today.”

Thank you for the chapter!
But ohhh – no. I’m hopping Candace grabbing not Bette’s hand, but Helena’s. Both brunettes, both in dark cloaks. It could be, isn’t it?
Please post soon, we need epilogue ASAP! :)
it’s coming up on 01/20, a special day for me, so stay tune…and thank you for reading and commenting, i really appreciate this
Well, today already 01/20 :)
I should’ve been more clear: 1/20 in the evening because i was born at 8 pm so this is my b-day present to myself LOL
Happy Birthday then :)
Happy Birthday! Going to go read the epilogue. Thanks for this story – I’ve enjoyed it and will miss it.
Yes, i agree we need next part to know what happened with our girls!
Please, post soon!
And i also hope it wasn’t Bette’s hand!
Is this really the end? Not exactly a happily ever after ending in my opinion….
I think Alice’s explanation to the FBI is perfectly feasible. I would think that the FBI would have not put their criminal investigators on a case of claimed time travel but a special division who dealt with phenomena which were rumored to exist for which was not generally accept principles of nature – such as flying sauces, Big Foot, time travel, and aliens, etc. I would expect that the FBI would treat people like Helena and the Professor as slightly off their rocker…but this is fiction.
Now… I’m not sure that Bette and Tina have much control on where this portal takes them, but I assume its a single opening and a single exit. And reading about life in the 19th century and living it are two different things. Living in a community without electricity, indoor pluming, shoes designed to be worn on a left or right foot, no communication devices, and a life where the vast majority of time is spent acquiring money or food. A society where women are not just 2nd class citizens but for the most house holds domestic servants to men. A society in which homosexual attraction has to be hidden and never acknowledged even to the closest family member. And of course, the skill set need by Bette and Tina to survive? Being odd is not going to be their only problem. I’m not sure when you look at how hard that life would be, that running from the likes of Helena, Candace and the Professor is not a much better option.
Your story is unique and has been very entertaining. I for one have found the concept of time travel to be fascinating. But the thought of going to a time that was not my own and be trapped indefinitely would be terrifying. Bette finding Tina was her saving grace and was the only way she could truly survive the experience. But even this was not permenant, Bette had some ability to go back and then return. But my understanding is that the portal closes permanently with this last trip. At least that is what the Professor is predicting based on some science principles which have yet to be tested much less proven.
I know you have spent years writing this. I do appreciate it. I do hope that you do an epilogue and not leave us with a cliffhanger as to what actually happened. Our girls deserve a happy, peaceful and normal life.
Thanks for the story…
Thank you for the insightful comment. Yes, the last chapter was not the actual finale, that’s why the epilogue is coming up. Apart from being a teaser (a little bit ;) ) I also wanted to stay true to my story (the way some of my chapters were structured in the past.) Thank you for reading, i really appreciate it
I knew it was too good to be true that it was the end of the story !
Haha, you put that idea into my head when you suggested 50 parts of the finale. Alas, i can only manage 4. The epilogue is coming and that will a final end to the story. I really appreciate your comments. Honestly, one of the earlier comments you made (maybe 10-15 chapters ago (which probably puts it 5 years ago LOL), is one of the reasons that made me going…the other reason that i’m a stubborn foreigner that wouldn’t just never give up…thank you
What a gloriously intriguing masterpiece! Alice is fab in this one. Loving it and worth the time to await each chap!!!! BRAVA!!!!!!
Thank you, that was much needed words of encouragement…i really appreciate the comment.
